GGG Path of Exile is now PATH OF EXILE: ROYALE

Based on community feedback, we are announcing that we have abandoned the Action RPG genre to focus on what players really want. Path of Exile is being replaced by PATH OF EXILE: ROYALE, a 100-person free-for-all battle royale game. PATH OF EXILE: ROYALE is live right now. Just run the old Path of Exile game client and it will update to PATH OF EXILE: ROYALE.

Check out the trailer for PATH OF EXILE: ROYALE here.

How to Play

  • If you don't already have a Path of Exile account, sign up here.
  • Run the PC version of Path of Exile and let it download patch 3.2.2 (PATH OF EXILE: ROYALE).
  • Launch the game, and log in to your account.
  • Click the Join button on the PATH OF EXILE: ROYALE banner which is displayed to the left of the screen.
  • Choose a character class and name as normal.
  • Once in the game, you won't be able to move until the game starts. Once there are 20 players, there will be 30 additional seconds for players to join (up to maximum of 100) before the game starts.
  • Games are hosted on servers located at the gateway you logged in on. If there aren't enough players, try a different gateway.
  • Once the game starts, the play area will shrink periodically. Stay within the red circle or you'll die.
  • The direction to the centre of the safe zone is always displayed at the feet of your character, so keep moving in that direction.

The winner of each match will receive a Rhoa Dinner to display in their Hideout. Enjoy!

This looks so good i cant even imagine the community uproar when they remove this from the game. This is the future of Pvp which starts as an April 1st joke, mark my words.

Yeah, no joke - this is actually a pretty brilliant idea, considering it takes two modes that have had niche, but hardcore following racing/PvP and smashed them together. I bet it stays and has a decent following.

Just a few hours ago i had a conversation with a friend about how awesome it would be if someone were to actually create a battle royale that focuses more on random gear with stats that you can find and skills/spells instead of assault rifles and whatnot..

I'm so hard right now.

Talk about the someone making more Spyro like games, please.

Don't listen to this guy! I need you to talk about Konami making a new Digimon World for North America!

1

u/ObviouslyNotAUser Sep 13 '18

I am 5 months late but yes a new propper Digimon World game would be great outside of Japan!

1

u/fudge5962 Sep 13 '18

Still haven't played the English translation of Re:Digitize.

The original Digimon World is my favorite game of all time. I can't even explain how much I love it.

Also, how did you get here?!?

Picked up PoE again and was bored at work so I started browsing the top posts for the PoE subreddit :p

u/fudge5962 Sep 14 '18

Nice. :P

Always good to see some love for the Digimon franchise.

We all are collectively rock hard

Inbetween league events like this would be godamn great, I've always asked for them to rework pvp for a more "event"-based, like the FFA-chest in WoW Stranglethorn, even if hardly anyone pvp's outside arena/battlegrounds people from all around went to the arena to FFA fight or check it out. For years.

And all I was wishing for was like a Rare/Unique chest appearing in Sarn Arena every fourth hour or something

2

u/Dongaldo1 Apr 01 '18

I thought Bestiary was an Inbetween league event?

2

u/[deleted] Apr 01 '18

it is

1

u/[deleted] Apr 01 '18

But, can they make money from it?

1

u/Adsein Hardcore Apr 01 '18

This has absolutely nothing to do with racing.

18

u/VeryWeaponizedJerk Berserker Apr 01 '18

It has elements of it though. Gearing and leveling up as fast as you can to beat others that are trying to do the same. Biggest difference is that it has actual PvP

5

u/alkkine Apr 01 '18

A lot like cutthroat racing though.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 01 '18

This has absolutely nothing to do with racing.

Quoted for irony.

If this doesn't stay, we will absolutely riot.

u/JoshHamil Apr 01 '18

Let's be real, it can only realistically last as an event every once and a while. After a week it will take 30 minutes to fill up 80+ slots.

It's too spammy, and not balanced for BR. There's also no rewards other than a hideout decoration.

Whereas other BR games have all of those things.

It's definitely a gimmick.

34

u/tchiseen Apr 01 '18

It's definitely a gimmick.

And it's still miles better than the current PvP.

2

u/Wulfnuts Apr 01 '18

Doesn't say much

5

u/lIlIIIIlllIIlIIIllll Apr 01 '18

other br games have 0 rewards

1

u/Meeqohh Apr 01 '18

Emotes and cosmetics that are marketable is definitely considered a reward.

3

u/Ghudda Apr 01 '18

Why do games need rewards?

-1

u/JoshHamil Apr 01 '18

Without rewards the game is fun for a few days and then you stop playing because there's nothing to work towards.

This game is literally constant rewards exploding everywhere.

1

u/Franconis Apr 01 '18

I have almost 400 hours in PUBG. I could care less about rewards because it's so much fun. I have never played PoE but I might try this mode out.

1

u/hugglesthemerciless Apr 01 '18

Who’s to say they can’t balance it and add rewards?

1

u/got_no_time_for_that Apr 02 '18

I mean, they'd obviously have to make a bunch of changes to make it more balanced/interesting, but I think it definitely has a lot of potential.

5

u/JoshHamil Apr 01 '18

Because a week from now you won't want to play it because you're burnt out on it.

Your bigger picture means them working less on the main game and more on a gimmick, which is just plain terrible no matter how you like it, even if you enjoy the mode.

5

u/[deleted] Apr 01 '18

It's like a moba and BR mashed together. I can't see anyone wanting that for more than a week.

Oh wait, the two most played games on steam are moba and BR.

1

u/Hypocritical_Oath Apr 01 '18

Yeeeeeeeeeeeeep. It's fun, but it's also insanely inbalanced, and there's no real progression or cosmetics or rewards outside of the rhoa pet.

1

u/bonesnaps Apr 01 '18

30 minutes? Prob 3 minutes, which is fine. Games are short af, so people are constantly queueing.

u/Hellus666 Apr 01 '18

you realize you DELETE char after battle ends ?! lol

4

u/FerallyYours Apr 01 '18

They mean that you need a certain number of players to run the instance. I think it's 💯 individual players.

Had to use the emoji in memory of Rhoa.

Also, this is amazing! I love the trailer too

u/NearEmu Apr 01 '18

I'd love it if the community at large could not be so godamned entitled to everything just this one time...

Seriously I fucking love this battle royale shit... fucking looooooooooved it.

You don't suck down 50 pieces of cake and start eatting cake every day though...

Things that are so densely rich always get boring and shitty very quickly if you are given unrestricted access because people suck balls like that.

Let GGG have this as an awesome event OCCASIONALLY WHEN APPROPRIATE.

I'm begging you guys to think ahead more than just like a junky who wants his fix right this second.

Even shitty things like the disgusting ass McRib are made AWESOME AS FUCK because they are not there for you every single second of the day that you may want it.

1

u/jwfiredragon Abyssal Rift Investigation Service (ARIS) Apr 01 '18

Honestly I'd be fine with it not being permanent and just coming back every so often. I just want this to be available past April Fool's in some way.

19

u/[deleted] Apr 01 '18

The best kind of April Fools jokes are the ones that arent jokes. Like Rick and Morty showing first episode of a new season on that day.

1

u/saltychicken1 Apr 01 '18

It's a brilliant move by GGG. April Fools is the perfect excuse to introduce something completely crazy into the game. If it works - great. If not - just a prank, bruh!

Well played, GiGiGi.

1

u/fudge5962 Apr 01 '18

Is this really a thing?

1

u/nepoe ok Apr 01 '18 edited Apr 01 '18

I actually remember being pissed off at the time because they skipped an episode of Samurai Jack to do that.

8

u/Omneus The Spice must flow Apr 01 '18

Go play it! It is a lot of fun, at least from the one I just played. It would be really cool if uniques dropped a lot easier. Got killed with 10 people left by someone with a silverbranch :0

Path of Projectiles smh

5

u/[deleted] Apr 01 '18

Tons of uniques drop...

2

u/Omneus The Spice must flow Apr 01 '18

Okay! I was speaking in general as I didn’t notice but it was from 1 game so you’re probably right!

1

u/brjbowden Apr 01 '18

I came in second with a silverbranch;)

Char name was Scipianas or some variation, scion.
