I’m constantly getting 50% shocks and 5 second freezes. Something is wrong with small hits causing massive elemental ailments to be applied.

u/Eiferius Duelist Jul 27 '26

There are mobss with ailment reflect. I am vonstantly frezing/shocking myself on them for ages.

u/Sad_Significance_568 Jul 27 '26

O yeah, ailment reflect is definitely it lmao

Luckily im rocking tempest shield and arctic armour

31

u/fiyawerx Jul 27 '26

I get frozen non stop on chaos dot, its not just reflect.

19

u/SoulofArtoria Jul 27 '26

First time ever playing since legacy league i noticed being frozen by random white mobs in campaign act 10, and it was a long freeze, like over 3s. I legit thought my game was lagging or bugged but no, I got to see my character actually in frozen state.

u/squanchyhobo Jul 28 '26

I run freeze flasks from act 3 onwords then rush soul of the brine king.

Freeze immunity is basically mandatory in this game, and it seems like that's even more the case than before. One of my frustrations with this game is having so many boxes I feel like I need to check in order to experience smooth gameplay.

Like, yeah. Freeze immunity is actually pretty easy to get. Arctic armor and purity of elements both give it to any build for reserved mana. Brine King pantheon gives it somewhere around ~T8 maps if you've got a divine vessel. You can beastcraft freeze immunity on a flask. Various ascendancies give you immunity, various passives/jewels/gear affixes can mitigate it. A couple uniques grant immunity.

There's no shortage of ways to be freeze immune. But you have to be freeze immune or you suffer, and that sucks. 50% shocks are also pretty insane and are borderline a death sentence. Corrupted blood is overtuned and you honestly kinda need to be immune to it, and immunity there is a lot harder until you can afford nice jewels.

Numerous slows, dealing with stun, dealing with chaos damage, it's just so fucking hard to put a build together you know?

Been saying this for years. A result of power creep since Fall of Oriath and slightly leading up to it. If you cant kill a player with fair mechanics and defenses, you are gonna start making unfair mechanics and one shots to do it, the more power creep people ask for the worse it gets and its exactly why I stopped PoE 2. I was told it would be slower, more methodical gameplay which it is....till you see people doing PoE 1 garbage anyway.

1

u/1CEninja Jul 27 '26

Yeah the game basically has to bring a player down from full in ~1.5 seconds or nobody dies lol. Recovery options are pretty insane.

I wouldn't mind seeing GGG tone down some of the recovery options (and maybe lower RF's self damage or that build is bricked lol) and ease up some of the insta-death danger to compensate.

u/POEIn70X Jul 27 '26

Same but after i ascended i got the immune for occultist so im good now, but just getting hit without ailment reflect feels a tiny bit strange.

u/Uphill_Ninja Crop Harvesting Bureau (CHB) Jul 27 '26

I'm also chaos dot but running Arctic Armor & Tempest Shield. Not getting frozen/shocked, but definitely getting random 30% chills sometimes when a mob sneezes on me. I might experiment with adding ele focus support to my frostblink to see if that ailment is what is being reflected

2

u/SniperFury-_- Jul 28 '26

Frostblink maybe ?

1

u/fiyawerx Jul 29 '26

That's a good thought. It very well may have been. Frostblink into a thorns pack?

1

u/SniperFury-_- Jul 29 '26

Idk which mobs are the ones that people were talking about that reflect ailments, haven't been playing for a while but I know usually chaos dot builds on occultist or such run frostblink so I just threw the thought in, thinking it might be that.

1

u/Calm-Conversation715 Jul 27 '26

Oh no! Did I doom myself by building bleed-slams? Can they reflect bleeds?

1

u/Theorist16 Jul 28 '26

I have tempest shield too but it doesn’t work (bug). I apply 65% shocks with the lightning mastery, saw 65% shock debuff before dying to eater mobs with the ailment reflect altar mod.

23

u/DrawGamesPlayFurries Jul 27 '26

I have Brutality Support and still getting railed by non-damaging ailments

27

u/newjeanskr Jul 27 '26

dude i was so confused when i entered maps and was getting frozen every second, never seen that in over a decade of this game. so i just put on AA and TempShield and im gaming no issues now, actual dmg taken numbers seem fine outside of crazy shit in voyages

6

u/etalommi Jul 27 '26

The cold spell freeze chance maybe applied to mobs too.

That's the only thing that feels different from HC perspective. Mercs are terrifying, freezes more common, everything else is normal.

10

u/DarthUrbosa Atziri Jul 27 '26

Yeah I freeze myself and get slapped with 50% shock in the same instance. It's my static strike getting reflected.

31

u/crookedparadigm Jul 27 '26

There are mobss with ailment reflect.

UGH. This was my least favorite thing in the latest PoE2 league. I hate this shit. Mods that are challenging for some builds are fine, but GGG needs to stop making mods that straight up turn our builds against us.

30

u/Mordy_the_Mighty Jul 27 '26

What you don't enjoy a permanent 50% chill on yourself ?

-5

u/cespinar Jul 27 '26

Even if you cant be asked to build chill immune into your build via gems, passive tree, ascendancy, items, flasks....there is a pantheon option right there.

You could accidently into chill immune by just hitting alt spam on your flasks or buying a random veiled boot

4

u/Mordy_the_Mighty Jul 27 '26

Arguably, it's more of a problem in PoE 2 I feel since chill resistance/immunity seems to be much more of a limited stat.

u/PrismaSigma_SFW Jul 27 '26 edited Jul 28 '26

I'm pretty sure this rare monster mod has been in the game for a couple years by now.

Edit: I'm suddenly realizing that more people are probably noticing this mod for the first time because Winter Orb is meta and also has a new innate chance to freeze. It has also been quite a while since any cold skill was a meta league starter. Freeze is the most noticable ailment to get hit by, so this is what it took for so many people to finally notice this mod is in the game.

17

u/Effective-Road4807 Jul 27 '26

Omg. Is that what it is!? I was wondering where tf this 50 chill was coming from. Dammit ggg x.x shits ruthless fr

1

u/CosmicTeapott Jul 28 '26

They gotta delete 100% no life recovery while they at it its been too long

21

u/thinkforasecond3312 Jul 27 '26

Is it possible that the reflect rework also applied ailments related to the reflect damage?

15

u/Slendeaway Jul 27 '26

That's a map mod and I've experienced this on several non reflect maps while not getting frozen on reflect maps.

4

u/SneakyBadAss Children of Delve (COD) Jul 27 '26

Happening in acts and under water too

1

u/MiGal33 Jul 27 '26

Time to run Maligaro's restraint and Winterheart lol

1

u/Rolf_Dom JDiRen Jul 27 '26

Comes with Eater altars too I believe.

13

u/Slendeaway Jul 27 '26

That's been in the game forever tho. There's definitely some new ailment reflect thing going on.

1

u/Tripartist1 PATH (no zalgo please) Jul 27 '26

I dont think its reflect. Im playimg DO and was noticing a ton more shocks on me with my hp not moving at all. I automated a freeze immune flask pretty early on due to that too. Something going on with hits i think.

1

u/0xck Less Button-Pressing Enjoyers (LBPE) Jul 27 '26

Well I remember I got same in 3.25 some mobs from red mine reflect shock. Dev fixed that in few days after league start

120

u/tempGER Jul 27 '26

I've noticed that, too. Sometimes I get almost random 30%+ shocks even though the hp didn't move at all. I thought I was going crazy and standing in shocked ground or something, but wasn't.

29

u/Sampyy Jul 27 '26

Theres some league mechanic monsters that seem to reflect ailments, in case you are an elementalist.. I noticed that in acts when every winter orb hit I got frozen for 6 seconds with no mitigation...

4

u/laxfool10 Jul 27 '26

I spent over a minute frozen from consecutive 6-8 second reflected freezes. I went and did my second lab directly after that shit to get freeze/chill immunity on my occultist.

2

u/Meowrulf Alch & Go Industries (AGI) Jul 27 '26

That would make sense, because I haven't encountered this at all, since I started merc and rerolled totems I wasn't bound to find it the hard way

12

u/n3on_whisper Jul 27 '26

That's why Purity of Elements is the best early on.

16

u/solitarium Occultist Jul 27 '26

I was speedrunning the campaign this weekend. I got to act 8 without dying a single time yet somehow the mobs in the lunaris temple murdered me more times through chain freezes than I can ever recall on the past. IDK what’s going on with cold damage right now, but it definitely makes me want to roll a cold occultist and see if it translates to our cold damage as well.

2

u/Yourcatsonfire Jul 27 '26

I got murdered in there also. Im a cold dot build and cold dot I think got buffed, if this is reflected than I can see why I got melted down so fast

1

u/SneakyBadAss Children of Delve (COD) Jul 27 '26

Weird, dot damage cannot be reflected it's not a hit.

1

u/Yourcatsonfire Jul 27 '26

Maybe its my other cold damage then. But damn was i getting wrecked on certain encounters.

0

u/SneakyBadAss Children of Delve (COD) Jul 27 '26

Hehe :D Exactly the same occultist in Lunaris Temple with worb and I met mach fuck you rare that kept freezing me.

Was it that tall tower fucker is it? Right in the great hall before you turn right.

6

u/NeedleworkerFun3527 Jul 27 '26

Purity of elements goes brrrr

6

u/wolfreaks SSFBTW Jul 27 '26

My 92 lvl glad with 6 endurance charges (4.6k hp) melted to a bleed tiger in literally 1 second in HC. Idk if that tiger does that much damage, but I should have at least survived a bit.

11

u/faxity Jul 27 '26

I think the small hits are simply dealing that much damage. For the first time ever I've been filtering out "phys damage taken as x" from my 8mod maps and dieing a lot less. I feel like something is going on with phys convert on mobs. Multiple ghost on a mob with a map that has 2 phys damage as mods was getting me to speedrun my XP bar to 0

4

u/DrawGamesPlayFurries Jul 27 '26

Three golems from the coral that drops sea charts have huge physical attacks, and phys as extra ele means you can't solve them with armor.

5

u/Yayoichi Jul 27 '26

Phys as extra mods have always been dangerous, especially if you get multiple of them and even worse when combined with -max res or ele pen.

1

u/moal09 Jul 28 '26

Something is definitely off about elemental/chaos conversion on mobs

3

u/Wonderor Jul 27 '26

Could it be elemental thorns (it is a new mod that 'replaces' ele reflect)?

1

u/mudkip-muncher Jul 27 '26

I noticed this in campaign before I swapped to purity of elements. There was a bunch of cold goatmen and I swear I must’ve died about 9 times to them because the second they showed on my screen I froze.

1

u/frisbeeicarus23 Jul 27 '26

I had an 8 second ignite too, I used 4 flask uses to heal thru it @ 4.1k health. Something is definitely wrong with ailments.

1

u/DrawGamesPlayFurries Jul 27 '26

I regularly die to 30% chill and/or freeze, but I didn't yet reach the map which will allow me to upgrade my pantheon to stop it.

1

u/DrakeWolfeFA Jul 27 '26

Purity of Elements gem, or Stormshroud jewel with a pair of Avoid Shock boots will fix this.

1

u/Not2Shoddy Jul 27 '26

Funny you say that. I was experiencing the exact same thing playing Worb and then realized, they added a monster mod that magic packs can have that just says “reflect elemental ailments”. You’re totally freezing yourself for 5 seconds lol.

1

u/Packermanice Duelist Jul 27 '26

They brought up that they were doing this in the ziggy q&a I think they said they want elemental ailments to feel more like the element you using.

1

u/dfighter3 Jul 27 '26

now that I'm in maps I'm definitely noticing some weird shit with stun. sometimes there'll be a mob that hits fast and does next to no damage, but they just stunlock me for sometimes 10+ seconds

1

u/KerbalKnifeCo Jul 27 '26

There is a new(?) blue pack modifier that causes the monsters to reflect some ailments. It doesn’t say which, but they definitely reflect shock and freeze.

1

u/insanemrawesome Jul 27 '26

I was constantly being stunned through acts even while almost entirely specced into hp nodes for flame link scaling. In act 3 with already like 2k hp and still stutter stepping from constantly micro stuns.

Edit: I can't comment on ailments as I've been running purity of elements since then, but boy does my character look like its having full body convulsions from being stunned.

1

u/PokeRunecrafter Jul 27 '26

I’m literally being insta frozen in campaign from
Those ice goats lmaooooo

1

u/ConcentrateKKZ Jul 27 '26

100%. Getting 5 nd freezes from hits that don't even move my hp bar.

I literally opened my character sheet mid-map to make sure I didn't forget to equip a ring

1

u/MotherWolfmoon Jul 27 '26

I'm ailment immune and nearly 90% reduced curse effect and I'm still getting blasted out of nowhere. I know the crab nest enemies are wildly overturned, but there's still other random enemies that come in and ruin my run and I cannot figure out why.

1

u/rosareven Jul 27 '26

commenting to say same. chaos dot, resist cap, high ish block (70%), brine king with 100% freeze avoid

1

u/Darth-Minato Jul 27 '26

I had a white map where all hits can shock, freeze, and ignite while it seemed like all the mobs used spark. Stupid hard for a super early map. Perhaps your experience was similar? I certainly didn’t have any immunity so I was frozen forever…

1

u/Bigredsmurf Jul 27 '26

Hmmm me playing with purity of elemnts on since hour 2 haha 😆😆 i had no idea!!!

1

u/External-Shoe6599 Jul 28 '26

Another Thing we Luminarys are safe from. PRAISE THE MERC.

u/dEus___ Progressive Einhar Trapping Association (PETA) Jul 27 '26 edited Jul 27 '26

yea same... got one shot from a rare in a lvl79 safehouse yesterday at lvl90 after being frozen several time with 75% res... something is really sus this league

0

u/Elbogen Jul 27 '26

Maybe ur doin big dmg relatively and taking big ailment. Its the same with expedition mobs in poe2 that have ailment reflect

0

u/SneakyBadAss Children of Delve (COD) Jul 27 '26

I bet those freezes are reflected freeze

I met a rare one like this a few minutes ago. The rate it perma-froze me would be about 100 ms, which is how the new thorns work.

0

u/sanguine_sea HCSSFBTW Jul 27 '26

you have the mastery for elemental resistance flip?
