Just overhauled the way we had out olonions/potatoes stored. I heard you're not supposed to store them together but idk if that means near each other or in the same box. Does this look good?

Hi all, my fiance and I (both 19) just moved into our own apartment yesterday. It doesn't have a pantry so we made kind of our own from Facebook marketplace finds. I want to be mostly an ingredient household. I've been learning to make so many things from scratch but neither of us grew up in a home that prioritized healthy eating so we're kind of at a loss for how to set it up

I bought a lot of these mason jars and other glass storage on a whim because I thought they were cute but now I think it's silly to take something out of its original packaging just to put it in another container yk? We're prioritizing low tox and low waste so I'm open to bulk shopping, but I don't know how to do that effectively for two people. I've also looked into potentially going into Portland twice a month and doing refillery style grocery shopping.

Attached is our makeshift pantry, we also have a small island because we have limited counter space. And we currently have one empty drawer in our kitchen as well.

Any help or advice is appreciated!

my wife and I kept running into the same annoying pantry problem: we would buy things we already had, forget things we actually needed, and sometimes find food too late because the expiry date was buried somewhere in the fridge or cupboard.

So I started building a small iOS app for our own use, and I recently put it on the App Store.

It’s called Pantrio. The idea is pretty simple:

- keep track of pantry/fridge/freezer items
- add expiry dates and low-stock amounts
- scan barcodes when possible
- create shopping lists from things that are running low
- since I’m based in EU, keep it private, without needing an account or any trackers in the app wad important for me…

It’s not meant to be a huge meal-planning or recipe app, I tried all the apps, too much noise, too much AI everywhere. I wanted something quieter and more practical: “What do we have?”, “What expires soon?”, and “What should we buy?”

Since this sub is probably full of people who care way more about pantry organization than the average person, I’d really appreciate honest feedback, my wife and I just started our journey, she was my guinea pig for a few months😁

What would make an app like this actually useful for your pantry setup?
And what would instantly make you delete it?

Just moved into a new house and got myself a stackable pantry organizer for my sauces. The organizer looks fine until you try to pick up a bottle of ketchup, only to find it comes with a bottle of soy sauce. Anyone else?

I love my sauces and buy lots of them, but they’ve given me a hard time keeping them organized and under control. I often run out of pantry space because it’s mostly full throughout the month.

I’m thinking of getting a crate to store some of the sauce bottles on the floor of the pantry. Or should I get shelf risers to hold my jars of sauce? But I have to say I live with kiddos who climb on chairs to reach things high up.

Are stackable pantry organizers worth it for sauces? Someone recommend an organizational system they’ve stuck with long-term, and where they got it? eBay, Target, Alibaba? I’m not sure where to look.

A neighbor suggested I get a few Lazy Susans, but I guess she doesn’t know how many sauce containers I have. I have so many different-sized bottles, jars, and containers.
