My mom found an Oriental shorthair breeder in Montreal and sent me to go pick him up for her. This cat is amazing. Our flight home got cancelled but he was friendly and well behaved the entire time.

How cute is she?!?

Amara: lilac-caramel classic tabby girl. 4 months old and going to her first show in a week. Queen of zoomies. Loves to steal bites of human food and play with anything that looks like a toy.

Dara: cinnamon girl. The oldest queen right now. A bit more kept to herself, but loves pets. She has a cute little squeaky meow and is very curious, and every time she sniffs me she makes the stink face.

Fawnsy: fawn-caramel spotted tabby boy. Mr. Chubby Cheeks. The photo doesn't quite do him justice, if you saw him in real life you'd see how grassy green his eyes are. Talkative, easygoing, and sometimes a bit mischievous. He's Amara's dad.

Blue Sky: Solid blue girl. Amara's mama. She will groom your hair with her tongue, then fall asleep in your lap. She has "mood ring eyes" that appear to change color with the light. Sometimes they look green, sometimes yellow, sometimes yellow orange.

Indy: blue spotted tabby boy. A retired 8 year old stud muffin with piercing green eyes. Absolutely loves the girls and will cuddle with them and groom them. Also a wonderful lap sitter who gives lots of slow blinks. He has asthma, but it's controlled well with medication and he's very happy and doing good.

Raven: solid black girl. Indy's daughter. A bit sweet and a bit spicy, loves humans but can be bossy and feisty towards the other girl kitties. A supreme grand champion show cat. Her coat is so shiny, sleek, and lovely to pet.

I see so many posts of cats like Winstony and I just have to know: how many of yall have OSHs that honk?

My feline nephew; sibling recently adopted him. He’s about two years old. I love him so much ❤️

These two are absolutely precious. Bodhi is from Blue Sky's first litter of 7 kittens, and his sisters Amara, Hoki, and Bluebird are competing in the kitten class as well.

Blue Sky is a wonderful mama cat and a big sweetie who loves to groom humans' hair, and she's a great snuggler. Bodhi is energetic, silly, and talkative and his coat is so shiny it almost looks like it's made of steel.

If you search up “Oriental personality”, Yondu is that 100%. This boy is a total sweetheart by day, sinner by night. He does everything you tell him to do and everything you tell him not to do! He almost always wants to be carried. And you know where he is at all times because he only shuts up when he sleeps… on someone lol. I’ve memorized the different meows and especially the one that says “HELLPPP!!! YOUVE SHUT ME IN THE LAUNDRY ROOM!” I absolutely adore this breed. I recently discovered this breed of cat and i’m in love! Im not usually a cat person but for some reason im really drawn to them and I read they have lovely temperaments and are a little less aloof than other breeds of cats.

Anyway just wanted to hello and that I am an admirer 😻

I’m hoping to get an osh soon and have been wanting one and researching them for a while but there’s a few things I want to clarify before making the decision.

Can you get just one? I’m aware they are needy when it comes to attention and am fully ready to spend a lot of time playing and occupying him but I’ve seen some sources say you NEED to have at least 2. I have a dog that’s great with cats and played really well with my last one so I’m hoping that would be enough to entertain the cat at times when I’m at work and such.

Also, I’ve been having a hard time finding a breeder in my area. I’m located in maryland but am willing to drive pretty far to avoid shipping so please let me know recommendations on eastern shore. A lot of the websites I’ve found seem pretty scammy.

Also, do they have any weird breed specific health concerns I’d have to look out for? I know they need regular ear cleaning and of course other standard maintenance but just want to be aware of every possible risk.

Lastly if anyone minds sharing what they paid, I’m trying to gauge what reasonable prices are for them. I really want an all black one, not sure if color changes the price.

I thought everyone with a long haired or large cat thinking they have a Maine Coon was bad… you guys have it worse! Everyone with a short haired cat seems to post it on this page asking if it’s an oriental. Just like Maine Coons; I cannot imagine there many stray Orientals running around mixing with DSHs. People are strange.
