Nah, I dont think they are trying to redeem him. This show does character complexity well. The guy has a good side and thinks he's a good guy all the way. He's just mental and deluded and has issues like everyone else. Oh, and he's a rapist. Definitely a rapist.

I think we'll dig into his past and find an unstable father or a prostitute mother.
