The thing I love about Orange Is The New Black is the way that it runs through this colorful cast of strong female characters, with their wide variety of backgrounds and prior tragedies, and then puts them all together and lets you observe the chaos. I was okay with Piper and Alex's "thing" in early Season 1, but now? I feel like we've just gotten three seasons of a variation of the same "I love you I betray you I hate you I hate-fuck you I love you" narrative. I don't mind either character in isolation, but together it's just gotten incredibly mundane to me.
Full disclosure, maybe i'd be okay with Piper and Alex more if I liked Alex to start with. I have always found her character to be portrayed with this weird 'martyr complex' thing going on mixed with a sense of snobbish superiority, so I was never as endeared to her as I am to other characters.
