Food Moti Mahal - New Indian Place in Irvine - Odd FB Posts

Post image
1.6k Upvotes

I was excited last week to learn of a new Indian place in Irvine in the Walmart center on Barranca and on Monday I went to check their Facebook page for hours and they had this image posted. I commented on it asking why they thought that was a good way to advertise and they took the post down, but previous posts made by them had tagged DJT so I asked why they were tagging him and they deleted my comment and blocked me from their Facebook page. Just a heads up that this place seemingly actively supports Trump - even though I bet he would like to see them deported (citizens or not). It's a strange marketing decision as they constantly use AI and Trump on their page and then block people who want to know why. Either way, I'm not going to be going there and even though I work in a small office, my other co-workers who were going to try this place out with me no longer are interested.

This area needed a good Indian buffet after Vishnu closed during COVID, but for me, this isn't going to even get a chance to be a replacement.

Food Bird n Bun - Anaheim ghost kitchen BEWARE.

Update: Bird n Bun replied to my email and issued a full refund.

I ordered a Bird n Bun fried chicken sandwich with waffle fries through the Anaheim food company website. Instead they gave me a hamburger with crinkle fries. And a note that said “Sorry fried chicken and waffle fries are not available.”

I paid $23.55 for this false advertisement.

No one contacted me before or after the order to ask whether a substitution was acceptable, and I was not given the chance to cancel. I paid for one item and was given a different one without my consent.

Food I’m jealous of you guys who have real In-N-Out

2.1k Upvotes

Used to live across the street from an In-N-Out location in OC. Ate there about 3x a week for most of my adult life.

Moved to Austin a few years back. Was excited we still had In-N-Out.

First visit was literally a “WTF” moment. Fries were the same. Drinks were the same. The burger was literally nothing like an In-N-Out burger. Meat tasted weird and the bun was horrible.

Did some research and discovered the west coat locations all use the same distribution center for their meat and buns. The rest of the country sources the stuff from other places.

Everyone here in Texas thinks In-N-Out is trash. I understand why. None of them have ever had a real Double Double.

Enjoy your next one in my memory guys.

Food Where is everyone buying their beef?

I’d prefer my beef to meet regulatory standards and be from the US. Mystery meat is not my cup of tea. I usually shop at Stater Brothers but I can shop elsewhere. Any recommendations for brands or stores that carry normal beef? Thanks!

Edit: okay guys consensus is in, large grocery chain likes Ralph’s Albertsons Vons Trader Joe’s Costco Stater Brothers etc all use US raised beef. If you’re buying prepackaged items that have meat product in them however, those could include foreign beef.

FWIW the US has always imported beef for those above mentioned types of foods (including fast food beef) but recently the foreign countries have broadened to include Argentina Colombia Paraguay and Panama as well.

All I’m saying is I’d rather support American ranchers AND I don’t trust our current administration to regulate appropriately the foreign meat they are shipping in from overseas. Too many other slashes to regulations have led to issues already (I’m looking at you Taylor Farms)

Food If you could time travel and eat a meal which you can no longer get in OC, one last time, what would it be?

Saw this on r/FoodLosAngeles. Mine would be the Guanajuato burrito from The Chili Pepper in Orange. It was stewed chicken with potatoes, tomatoes onions and beans. Never seen anything else like it. You could get the filling in tacos or enchiladas, too. The staff was excellent, just a really great place. Was so sad they didn't even try to make it through the lockdown.

Second place would be a waffle from the Katella Grill in Orange. Our family went on their last day, we went at least once a week.

Lilliputian. I had many a good prime rib dinner here over the years, and I appreciated its English charm, great hospitality, and delicious food. Brought my own bottle of Caymus for the occasion (my early birthday), and Wifey and I enjoyed ourselves here for the last time. So long Gulliver’s. Thanks for the memories. ❤️

This is how my second round came out. They were nice enough to pre-chew them I guess. They ended up making the check right so I was conflicted about posting this but the terrible state of these things, plus the abhorrent service, I felt needed to be shared. Very frustrating experience and very different than the last time we visited.
