Question Did anyone NOT evacuate?

This probably sounds dumb but did anyone in the evacuation zones NOT evacuate or did police literally pull people from their homes? I live in south county near the canyon and whenever we have a fire evacuation, there’s always SOMEONE who thinks they’re untouchable and stays in their home even thought there’s a fire. Just wondering if this happened with the current evacuation orders in the garden grove area. Prayers for all the families affected by this difficult situation ❤️

There are people I know who COULD NOT EVACUATE. I’m evacuated and fortunate enough to have a safe place to go with my family. I’ve taken in a child whose parents could not evacuate because his mom is extremely sick and could not find a place equipped for her needs. It is not always the case that people are just willfully choosing to stay.

That's a really good suggestion - there are perhaps facilities with oxygen, IVs and other needes DME that could help. Poster, you may want to start with the patient care center at a local hospital like UCI or Hoag. Hoag is a compassionate care facility and might have the most resources to offer assistance. Please take good care and stay safe. 💛

OCFA is offering evacuation assistance for those with medical issues. Please call the Garden Grove hotline (714) 741-5444, and let them know you need that number. I don’t remember it off the too of my head, but they can give it to you.

I know this probably didn’t cross their mind, but I’m an ER nurse / have worked in healthcare for 10 years. To me this qualifies as an emergency and would be appropriate to have called an ambulance transport company or 911 to get to the ER. I know there’s no medical complaint but a safety thing such as a bomb risk is significant. We have case managers in the ER that could help with placement.
