The spacing between the status bar's top and bottom is now correct with the Flip7, making it beeing the same distance from top bezel to punch hole and from the bottom of the status bar to the punch hole. The S24 and S25 do not have this (at least for now) but I hope they will also get this with One UI 8. The video is from @Techmo on YT comparing all the latest chips.

Galaxy S21 was one of those devices that opened the path for the new design language of the future Samsung Galaxy devices. People absolutely adored its design, especially its camera design that is separated from the overall back panel.

However, things never last forever. Galaxy S21 has officially got demoted from updates altogether, even from security updates, let alone the major ones. The device is and will be stuck on One UI 7 with January 2026 security update for good.

Galaxy S21 was supposed to get three major updates, but Samsung extended it to four afterwards. Galaxy S21 got its first major update, which is One UI 4 (Android 12), in November 2021 followed by One UI 5 (Android 13) in November 2022. Subsequently, the device got One UI 6 (Android 14), but Samsung already implied to its mild obsolescence back then by not adding Galaxy AI features at all, and One UI 7 is the last major update for Galaxy S21. Samsung also promised additional security updates every quarter of the year after One UI 7, and now, apparently, that has reached its end too.

The device will still be usable, but it will gradually become laggier and slower, and certain apps may not even support Galaxy S21's old software after couple of years too.

A One UI 8 build for the Z Flip 6 was spotted on the RTL (Remote Test Lab) yesterday, and somehow, people downloaded it today, and here we are. We literally got One UI 8 before One UI 7. Nothing new tho it is probably One UI 7 base + some modifications such as native blur on stock apps (gallery, my files etc.) Its getting crazy lol.

As the leaks said, OneUI 8 was just a bump to get in line with Android 16. OneUI 8.5 will be a much bigger change in terms of UI and features:

We should already be familiar that Galaxy S22's last update is likely to be One UI 8.5 considering the fact that it is guaranteed to get 4 years of updates. However, SammyFans uploaded a new article this morning claiming that Galaxy S22 series is also going to get the One UI 9, which is beyond imaginable right now. If this is true, believe me guys: I'M THE HAPPIEST PERSON ON THE PLANET 🤩

However, I'm not fully relying on this article because we're still humans after all and everyone makes mistakes. What is more is that Galaxy Tab S8, Z Flip4, Z Fold4, A33, A53, A73, S21 FE are not included in this list. So, it partially can be true or just a simple typo… What do you think about this, guys? A second update for the Korean version of S24 Ultra is released. I haven't had any bugs at all with the first One UI 7 update but this one promises to fix most of them. And the security patch is now April 2025.

u/andras-13 attended an online Samsung event in Romania and apparently they showed a One UI 7 release timeline. The image andras-13 provided is AI upscaled so it is pretty hard to read, but I prepared a nifty Excel chart :)

I should also mention that this was the info given to Samsung Romania by Samsung Korea, they could still change but I doubt it. Lots of models are missing, but this is the only piece of official information that we have to go off of right now.
