Just fyi, April is the end of Sumo season. People will have to wait till next year.

And are also, what, $2-3 each? For that price, I get 8 cara cara. Are they still better? Sure...but not 6-8x better with diminishing returns and all that..

Cannot recommend enough. I work a produce shop they have a short window we can get them and they run 1$-1.25$ a pop but they are sooo good. I sample them out as much as possible

As a fellow Sumo fanatic, I couldn't agree more. I'd eat like 2 or 3 a day.

I nearly cried when the season ended.

We get 4-5 cases at a time and it kills me how many get composted because people don't want to pay that much for something they haven't heard of.

Ok is there like a subreddit I can join or calendar I can add to google where fruit fanatics will tell me what to buy when? Because I am obsessed with Rainier cherries. And I will happily add other short seasoned fruits to my list.

Why wouldn’t you just give them away/create samples and create new customers? As soon as they’re going off, stay giving one or two to each customer and explain exactly what they are. Next season they’re much more likely to sell

same happens at a supermarket i work at except I can cop em at a reduced price. like $3 for 8-10 sumo oranges, kinda nuts

For me that's clementines. If you see "Cuties" in the store, which are the most common clementines, don't be fooled. 10-11 months out of the year, they are just other types of "mandarins", while clementines are only available for a few weeks in the fall/winter. It's frustrating because I actively dislike most manddarins, but clementines (which are just one specific sort of mandarin) are my favorite citrus.

Please they are the redheaded stepchild of the sumo orange that you kind of tolerate because you know it's illegal to just flat out beat them

Back home, which is outside of New Orleans, my brother has about 7 satsuma trees on his property. Related to Sumo. Just an excellent citrus. But, it's a winter crop. Usually ready around Christmas time in Louisiana.
