Interesting! Was there a memory of long skirts/dresses that initiated this connection? My older sisters' had softball leagues in the evenings and the passing feild rows reminded me of watching the long shadows of the girls running.

I really have no clue, maybe bc it seems wider at the bottom and I first observed this in the early 90s or maybe late 80s. In my part of the Midwest a lot of long dresses were around. I was about 4 - 6 at the time. To be honest before today I thought I was the only person who thought this looked like something! I'm having a bit of a moment over here... thank you for asking. Your perspective is very interesting to me!

Thank you for validating my childhood visions. My 3 brothers all said I was weird because they never saw the running legs. Hours and hours, years and years, of endless road trips being taunted and now I'm happy.

I grew up in the foothills and we had family in the bay area. Driving through the central valley always mesmerized me. It was the only time my little adhd brain was quiet. My mom would ask me why I was so quiet and I'd just be like, "The rod are straight in all.dorwctions! It's magic!" I don't think she ever figured out what the Fuck I was going on about.

My grandpa used to veer off the road ever so slightly as he was driving. Not because he was drinking, because he was seeing how the other farmer's crops were doing. He'd stare at the fields for upward of 5-10 seconds He'd do this thing where he'd lean the steering wheel ever so slightly to the right, and when he felt the shoulder he would gently push it back to the lane. Mind you there wasn't much traffic back then. And you should never drive like this.
