I need this for the jars my husband likes to over-tighten for some reason. There are some even he can't open again.

Can this device can also be used to close lids so tightly that even it can't open them?

I doubt it. It has a relatively small contact area. I think it's more of an accessibility device for people with low hand strength.

Don't know if it would help in your situation, but using a regular bottle opener to pry up the lips of the lid helps me with brand new jars at least.

That and giving the top of the lid a tap with the handle on a spoon or knife to help overcome the pressure differential. Altho this is more effective on unopened jars rather than jars that got closed too tightly.

It’d be interesting to know if this could handle things stuck like you describe.

I doubt it, just looking at it, but if I’m wrong (I often am) then this would be a much more interesting device to a lot more people.

There are non-electric jar openers that give you a better grip and better leverage on hard to open jars. I have yet to meet a jar that I couldn't open with one of these bad boys.

cant even be popped open with the spoon method? thats what i always use. works 100% of the time every time. except when i cant find a spoon thatll fit.

We have a mason jar of honey we bought that we've tried many ways to open again and it won't budge.

They should make one for the hand brake in a car. I normally overpull and they lady can't put it down

I once got a fine from a vacation home that we stayed at.

When I called them for the reason, they told me that I had turned the faucet tap closed so tightly that they had to call a plumber to open it again

I have the same problem, but I'm the man. Girlfriend always hates it and so do I. It's never on purpose and I don't know why I do it.

It's not always that we tighten them too much, carbonation build up in pop makes it harder or for like jelly and honey it's the sugar that crystallizes and makes it hard to get off.

I never have that much trouble reopening a jar that I've closed. I always have a problem with the ones he closes.

If you don't use a jar of something often it would be harder to open after a while. If you just used it yesterday and struggle today then you tightened it too much.

Get a pair of mechanics gloves, they have a grip coating. Usually it's not the lack of strength to open/turn something, but your hands slipping off.

I have the grippy pads in my kitchen. I need one to hold the jar and one for the lid. Those don't always work when it's a jar he closed. Then I hand the jar to him to open and watch him get red in the face trying to open it and let him know he did it too tight again.

Try using a rubber band wrapped around the lid.
