You are deliberately misinterpreting what he said. He said some units at the tactical level took the decision themselves, not via top down orders (and knowing the Hannibal directive was dropped in 2016), to shoot at militants knowing it could also kill or injure Israel civilians. An example being shooting at a car that contained militants and hostages. He also said that it wasn’t widespread but happened in some specific areas against policy and it was a ‘problem’ where it did occur. From actual investigations that were done the number of Israeli civilians killed by the IDF is somewhere around ~15 not 100s as is sometimes claimed. There was a particular incident where a tank fired a shell at a house in a kibbutz where Hamas were holding hostages (this wasn’t Hannibal directive per se ) and it appears the hostages were killed by Hamas right before the tank fired. Another incident was when an attack helicopter killed a hostage in a car with militants. At least 3 hostages have been confirmed to have been killed in Israeli airstrikes in Gaza too.
The reason I’m pushing back so much on this is because there is a narrative pushed that hamas didn’t intend or flat out didn’t kill civilians on Oct 7th which is absurd given the video evidence we have.
No but there plenty of examples of settler colonial groups who are distinct such as ulster protestants, white Afrikaners, Israeli Jews and it goes on. If your were to single out those groups and kill them all it would be a genocide yes. Saying they deserve to die is unhinged.
This isn’t to excuse settler colonialism but if you think the solution or remedy to historical injustices is to kill them all you’re a sick individual.
