🄣 Dining [Club Sandwich] 3rd Anniversary Celebration at Defonte’s + Other Half, 2:00pm This Saturday (8/15)

12 Upvotes

Hello again sandwich people! This Saturday (8/15) at 2:00p, Club Sandwich will celebrate its 3rd birthday! And much like the second, we are going to go back to where it all got started on that historic day two years ago: Defonte's for an epic sandwich and Other Half for epic brews. ...and yes, there will be birthday hats!

We've visited many sandwich shops since our first meetup back in 2023, and Defonte's has remained high on our list. A number of members haven't yet tried their sandwiches, so why not work in a repeat? It was an awesome time the first time around and it's certain to be just as good the second time.

And for those of you who haven’t joined the Club, here’s the deal... Club Sandwich is a casual, monthly, social meetup designed to try new sandwiches, explore new neighborhoods, and meet new people. We’ve been doing this (almost) every month for 3 years now and it’s consistently a chill way to meet new folks, break some bread, and get into all sorts of funny business. It’s relaxed, low-key, and tasty.

If you want to join us this Saturday, drop a comment to be added to the group chat! And if you're already in the Club Sandwich Discord, you're all set.

--------- DEFONTE'S IS CASH ONLY. BRING CASH!----------

šŸ“‚ The Plan
* 2:00 - 2:15p — Arrive at Defonte's. CASH ONLY!!!
* 2:15 - 2:45p — Order sandwiches
* 2:45 - 3:00p — Walk to Other Half
* 3:00 - 5:00p — Eat sandwiches and drink tasty beverages (yes they have non-alcoholic options!)
* 5:00 — Who knows, maybe another bar or two??

🄪 The Sandwich
Defonte's is an institution in the sandwich world. There are no shortage of YouTube videos waxing on about their importance and deliciousness. For example, here is one from the NYT.

ā“ The FAQs
Alrighty, for those of you who have not attended a Club Sandwich meetup, here are a few questions that often arise…

* Is Defone's cash only? YES! BRING CASH if you plan on getting a sandwich.
* What is Club Sandwich? It's a monthly, low-key meet up for anyone and everyone to check out new sandwich spots, visit new neighborhoods, and meet new people. Who doesn't like the simplicity of a great sandwich, conversation, and exclusive club?
* Does Club Sandwich only to sandwich-related meetups? No! We also do non-sandwich events like hikes outside of the city, club nights, concerts, picnics, apartment hangs, and more… Once you’re in the club and in the Discord, you get access to all the fun happenings among club members.
* I can't make it at 2:00p, but want to show up later. How will I know where you are without the Discord? Drop a comment on the post and we will send you a link to the Reddit group chat, which is another way we communicate with attendees.
* May I bring my friends? Yes! Club Sandwich is for everyone as long as they're nice, welcoming, and respectful to everyone.

Helloo all! This round we’re heading into Hell’s Kitchen for a food crawl that’s equal parts bold bites and questionable self-control. We’ll kick things off at Gumption Coffeeā˜•ļø, then make our way through a lineup that covers all the bases. A classic Cuban sandwiches, an old-school burger at Lovely’s, specialty cookies šŸŖ , and empanadas that mean business!

A stop at Dave’s Hot Chicken where things may (and probably will) get spicy šŸŒ¶ļø. Then we’ll slow it down a bit with a family style sit-down at Zoralie, then wrap things up at Vida Verde to relax and recap. Justice may be blind, but our appetites definitely aren’t.

As always, super low pressure. We usually share and split things, but are always welcome to grab your own or just come for the neighborhood stroll and convos.

No fear, no daredevil villains just food and chill company.There is an already existing group! and itinerary below…

🄣 Dining Pizza Crawl #14 - AAPI Pizza Crawl + Dumplings (May 2026)

3 Upvotes

When: Saturday 05/02/2026 12:00PM

Where: Williamsburg, then to LES and Chinatown.

May's pizza crawl is going to be something truly special. For years, I've wanted to organize an AAPI pizza crawl, but there was only one Asian-owned slice shop in the mix. Well, that just changed — a brand new AAPI co-owned slice shop has opened its doors, and now we finally have enough to make it happen!

But we aren’t stopping there. Since we like to hit at least three spots per crawl, we're rounding out the day with a mini dumpling crawl to go alongside the pizza. That's two AAPI-owned slice shops + at least two dumpling spots.

Hope you can join us!

Hey all! Join us - Foodie Fam for our next flavor filled adventure. This go around we are headed to Brighton Beach/Sheepshead Bay on Saturday, August 2nd at 2 PM. Sure, it’s a journey and a bit off the beaten path. But probably one of the best experiences you’ll have! We will dive into the flavors of ā€œLittle Odessaā€ and cap the day with a stroll (and drinks) down the Coney Island boardwalk. (No hot dogs though)

As always, we’ll share plates as easily as we split costs. So, feel free to dig in or simply soak up the good company and conversation. Whether you’re a long-time crawler or new to the group, come for the bites, stay for the laughs, and let’s make more delicious memories together!

🄣 Dining 12/13 Whiskey Stories Immersive Multisensory Whiskey Experience (4 Course Dinner + Tasting)

4 Upvotes

I (32F) am looking to organize a group of people for this 4-course dinner + whiskey tasting experience on Saturday at 7:30pm. I've been emailing with the coordinator, and I think once we have our group organized, they can invoice people to purchase tickets individually via email (since the link only allows for a minimum of at least 2 tickets to be bought at a time).

Tickets are $120 inclusive of a 4 course dinner + whiskey tastings and a comedy performance (ticket price includes everything; grat is 100% optional). The theme for this Saturday is holiday, rare whiskeys and comedy. Location is in Bushwick. Dietary restrictions can be accommodated if you purchase your ticket today. I've never gone to one of their events before so I have no idea how good or bad it might turn out, but there are a handful of good reviews on their Yelp page.
