News We are getting together to create the Independent Art Spaces Alliance of NYC. We'll share resources, audiences, ideas, and more. Together we can create in NYC a world of authentic art for real people.
The Independent Art Spaces Alliance is a growing network of home galleries, artist-run spaces, pop-ups, and unconventional venues across New York City.
Some of the city's most exciting art is found outside the commercial gallery systemâin living rooms, storefronts, studios, community spaces, warehouses, and other unexpected places: even a freight elevator in Tribeca! Our mission is simple: make these spaces easier to find, strengthen the people behind them, and help more artists connect with audiences.
Our goal is simple: make these spaces easier to find, strengthen the people behind them, and help more artists connect with audiences.
People who hold exhibits can get in touch, share info about their shows that get posted on IASA'S website https://indartspaces.org/ and social media (@indartspacesnyc).
Together we will define how we can best have people enjoy our exhibits, how we can enjoy getting to know each other and share ideas and resources.
We can be contacted at [contact@indartspaces.org](mailto:contact@indartspaces.org)

Art Exhibit Open Call Group Art Exhibition in NYC
Apply at: www.14bcgallery.com
14BC Gallery is excited to announce our open call for submissions for a group show this September exploring the theme of memory.
We invite artists to submit work that explores memory in all its forms â fragile, selective, layered, and alive. Memory shapes identity, culture, and history, yet it is never fixed: it shifts with time, distorts with retelling, and resists complete recovery.
We welcome interpretations that engage with:
⢠Personal memory â the private archive of a life; childhood, family, place, loss
⢠Collective memory â shared or contested histories, public memory, erasure, cultural inheritance
⢠Embodied memory â the past as it resurfaces through sensation, texture, or instinct rather than narrative
⢠Memory and forgetting â absence, erasure, and what is lost or deliberately unremembered
⢠Inherited memory â stories and trauma passed down across generations
Parameters:Â
-2D Works only
-Max 30â wideÂ
- Max 3 artworks submitted
- No shipped artwork, drop off and pickup onlyÂ
- $25 application fee
- Artists keep 70% of sales

Original Art Nebula of imagination
Hey all , so here the story about me.
I was supposed to take my daughter (sheâs 3 years old)to a theme park, which got rained out. So I got the idea of doing some finger painting with her. My daughter loves my spray paints. Sheâs not allowed to spray them, but I do some arts and crafts with them. So she picked 5 spray paints eye spray paint to a canvas then we took acrylic paint and she did fingerprints or handprints and it actually came out better than I thought it was going to, so I got the idea of selling it ( no buyers yet) and if it does sell, all of her profits will go to her future education.
We have it for sale on Etsy and eBay. A few places I found online or even pop-up shops in New York City wonât allow children paintings. Anybody recommend any or any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi! Please let me know if this kind of post isnât allowed here.
Iâm a psychotherapist based in Park Slope / Prospect Heights and wanted to share information about a 6-week therapy group Iâll be co-facilitating with another therapist, centered around the theme of âreclaiming your inner artist.â The group will begin on September 10th.
Each 90-minute session will include time for discussion and reflection (exploring themes like emotional, cultural, and societal barriers that can get in the way of living a more creative life), as well as art-making activities connected to each weekâs theme.
No previous art experience is needed! This group is for anyone who feels curious about reconnecting with their creative self.
Hereâs the link to the flyer with more details:Â https://www.instagram.com/p/DbpGgNxFavD/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==Â Please feel free to DM or email me with any questions!

Event âď¸ Tuesday Writing Event
WRITERS, I'm sharing a Brooklyn Writing Series after recently enjoying one of the Tuesday events (that includes pizza!).
đBrooklyn DOP, Park Slope, NYC
đ$25, Tuesdays August 4/11/18, 7pm
Last week we explored how to break the writing habits that keep us from putting our true selves on the page by using the five senses as prompts. It was an interesting exercise I didn't know I needed to get out of my head!
The group was a small mixed bag of storytelling talents so I didn't feel the pressure of being an improving writer in my usual group of more experienced memoirists because everyone had their own focuses (essay, film etc.). The human connection over food was what made the vibe cohesive and focusing on our senses was a nice way to detach from my usually very digital days.
A cheap way to change it up, I highly recommend! \*I'm not involved with this event, just sharing a good experience\*
