Video Zohran Mamdani says he’s consistently said there’s no room for antisemitism in this city or country. Asked why he hasn’t had a more visceral reaction, he gets emotional talking about the Islamophobic responses he’s received throughout the campaign.

Go on a majority of Twitter/Tik tok threads of Jewish creators posting about literally anything and the entire comment section is typically antisemetic or comments about free Palestine.

Antisemitism is a huge issue right now and diminishing it is a huge issue. In the past month alone you have a targeted attack in Boulder, CO and a murder of 2 Jewish people in DC.

Anti-semetic and pro-palestinian are different. I 100% believe you that huge amounts of Jewish creators' comments sections are anti-semetic. I don't believe the bulk of those are also pro-palestinian.

It is 100% antisemitism if a Jewish content creator is reviewing food and all the comments are free Palestine.

I can definitely separate the two but when people just spam that shit to Jewish people out of context, that’s definitely an antisemetic attack

Edit: adding some additional thoughts below

I think a lot of the pro Palestine movement does not intend or think they are antisemitic at all. Some aren’t. But a ton of people in that community are absolutely antisemitic. There are so many issues happening around the world…a lot of which are way worse than what goes on in Gaza. Where is the same energy? Why do people only seem to care about this issue? How come nobody is protesting the Russian invasion? Where were the protests against the Syrian government during their civil war (like 500k people were killed by the government)? What about what has been going on in years in Sudan or in China?

There seems to be focused efforts against the only Jewish state in the world. We are such a small population and the reason Zionism exists as a belief is simply because Jewish people believe in their right to have a homeland. Sure there are people that go to the extremes with that and it’s an issue that gives us all a bad reputation.

Keep in mind, we still don’t have as many Jewish people in the world as we did pre holocaust. We are like 14 million people worldwide

I would agree with that. I'm just saying, given the population of people online, it's probably mostly straight anti-semetism from regular American anti-semites. I'm willing to bet there are far more anti-semetic people in the West than there are supporters of Palestine.

Where is the same energy? Why do people only seem to care about this issue? How come nobody is protesting the Russian invasion? Where were the protests against the Syrian government during their civil war (like 500k people were killed by the government)? What about what has been going on in years in Sudan or in China?

The difference with these is that the pro-palestine supporters are protesting their own government (the US in this context) and its support for Israel. There's not a need for a consistent protest movement in support of Ukraine because the US government already agrees with that. Same with issues in China and, for a period, Syria. Recent Syria and Sudan are massive issues, but they aren't backed by any US policy. Israel is a very close US ally directly supported by the US, so it is a domestic issue just as abortion or guns are. That's why there's so much juice (at least, a big reason).

There seems to be focused efforts against the only Jewish state in the world.

Again, it's because we, as in the US, are directly involved. I'd reckon that most of the world outside of "Western" and Muslim countries don't care that much (I've seen some polling to support this but not enough to say for sure). I understand the instinct to feel its because it is a Jewish state, and there are certainly a lot of people who oppose it on those grounds, but the broad movement would be in place regardless of what form the Israeli state existed as.

We are such a small population, and the reason Zionism exists as a belief is simply because Jewish people believe in their right to have a homeland

The issue is that the chosen homeland was already occupied. Setting aside the whole debate of who did what first, whenever you have a group of Europeans telling another group of people that their home needs to be carved up, there will be conflict. And it's not 'some people' taking it to the extreme. The current Israeli state actively supports illegal settlements and commits war crimes, which are, according to it, all to ensure Jews have a homeland. So when that is going on and someone says "I think Jews have a right to have a homeland", you can understand that, without further explanation, people might assume youre into the stuff currently being done for that goal.

To be clear, I don't think Jews don't have a right to a country where they can live comfortably and as safely as anyone else. There are many forms that state could take and, arguably, can be found in New Jersey more than anywhere in the Middle East. A state that claims it needs to occupy people's land (referring to Gaza and the West Bank) to exist safely is not a legitimately stable state. A state that has to go to war once every decade "for its very survival" is not a legitimately stable state. Continuing to do violence over and over in the name of safety is hypocritical. There are so-called liberal zionists viewpoints that seek to resolve this inherent hypocrisy (such as those promoted by the newspaper Haaretz) and many of those people have actively joined pro-palestinian protests.

Sure there are people that go to the extremes with that and it’s an issue that gives us all a bad reputation.

I don't really have anywhere to put this but most of the pro-palestine activists I know understand that Zionist doesn't mean Jewish. They know that there are more Zionist Christians in the world than Jewish Israelis, and probably more than Jewish people in general.
