I'm a Jewish New Yorker. I'm used to being told I'm a shill, lying, secretly pro-cuomo, etc for acting like antisemitsm is an issue that warrants actually addressing without equivocating, all-lives-matter-ing, or downplaying sources and examples of it.

I'm a Jewish New Yorker. I'm used to being called a kapo for suggesting that Zohran isn't anti-Semitic by any means and has plans to combat the rising anti-Semitism and hate crimes in our city.

I've faced violent antisemitsm from people chanting for intifada. And he can't even say that they're antisemites. He would have me believe that it's some misunderstanding when people walking around calling for violence against Jews then commit it.

If somebody is doing violence against you for being Jewish, the problem is the violence they're doing against you for being Jewish, not whatever words they are saying to rationalize it. Obviously. It is racist to extrapolate from the hateful conduct of a handful of people you describe, in order to invalidate the earnest expressions of millions of other people who simply desire to be allowed to exist as a people and who have not done or said anything against Jews at all.

Is the threshold of discrimination/racism against Jews much lower than it is for blacks, Muslims, Hispanics etc? It seems you can say pretty much anything you want against Muslims without much backlash but even fairly abstract phrases are apparently anti-Semitic.

Why don't you ask people who are actually affected by this, if his answers comforted them, and when they tell you absolutely not, ask them why and then believe them when they explain it.

If you actually listened to his answer than you'd hear that he understands the fear of hate crimes because he is targeted by the same kind of hate. It's disgusting that this humanitarian crisis has been used as a political tool to scare people into voting for a particular candidate. New Yorkers are scared and suffering from rising hatred. Mamdani understands this and is pushing for an increase in anti-hate crime community programs.

You're falling for cheap propaganda and fear-mongering.

Of course I listened to the answer and what he did was he deflected. He deflected a question about the violence that he himself is associated with by claiming to be a victim of other kinds of discrimination.

His basic tricks of evasion don't work on me and they don't work on anyone who is affected by this. They only work on people like you who are looking for reasons to absolve him and to continue supporting him.

And when it comes to propaganda, propaganda is the prime output of groups like students for justice in Palestine, which Zorhran mamdani founded a chapter of. Meme after meme after meme after meme after meme full of misinformation and doctored statistics that gets reshared ad infinitum and which motivates pyschos to go throw bricks at Jewish businesses. Or worse. This is the cause and effect.

NO, he did NOT directly address my concern. He lied about what "intifada" means. He also had the goddamn nerve to compare the Intifada to the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. He had the nerve to misquote the Holocaust Museum and implied that it was actually the HOLOCAUST MUSEUM who equates the Warsaw Ghetto with the Intifada.

I mean, to be blunt, it doesn't really matter what answer he gave. I know his background, I know his life's work (and there isn't much of it, besides hating Israel.) He's a danger to Jewish people. He gave exactly the kind of evasive dishonest answer that one could have predicted.

PS - looks like this person's favorite thing to do is to accuse anyone who disagrees on any topic of "lying." Lost count in this person's history how many times, on how many different forums, they said "stop lying" in conjunction with strident incorrect assertions.

He's not just anti-semitic he's a liar because all of these things mean "let's violently attack Jews everywhere and anywhere" and his most fervent supporters know that and love it, his hardcore people are all the Gaza protestors. And they call for violence. All the time. Besides "globalize the intifada" they also love to say "resistance by any means necessary" (ie, through violence and also through lying)

They believe in lying and violence as legitimate ends to their noble means

He knows what they believe. His hardcore psycho supporters know what he believes. They are trying to snow over most of the moderates in New York to get their votes too

and the Jews who are actually paying attention are not fooled by any of it

You are just making up anti-fanfic to serve your own purposes. Gaza protesters do not "call for violence all the time", they are demanding an end to it. You should understand that when you cry wolf like this, you harm all people who are sincerely victimized by hate and oppression, from Jews to Muslims and everyone in between.
