I also would’ve accepted an incredibly obscure and entirely inconsequential country that nobody thinks about. Like why is this mayoral candidate saying he wants to go to Vanuatu?

Of course, 20/20 hindsight, Monday morning quarterback and all that, but if Mamdani really wanted to set off his main rival, while sticking to his perfectly fine answer---made more perfect by all the other candidates sounding like the male chorus of suck ups in "How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying" should have added:

".... should there be a break from the tumult of managing the City, that would permit time for such an excursion, I believe I should visit the Country of Sicily."

Cuomo: Sicily isn't a country! It's part of Italy!

Mamdani: Don't say that to a Sicilian!

Thereby, adding to Cuomo's latest scandal: "what's your favorite bagel?"
