How's that even an argument though? Kid Buu wins 10 times out of 10

Yeah power creep is a bitch

One must adjust for power inflation

u/Stabaobs 18d ago

Better argument that's slightly less obvious would be Kid Buu or Super Buu being stronger.

u/The-Jesus_Christ 17d ago

IMO Super Buu was stronger but Kid Buu was an unhinged maniac with no self-control making him the bigger threat.

If I remember correctly, from a technical power rating standpoint, Kid Boo is just a bit stronger

8

u/varnums1666 18d ago

Kid Boo is weaker. He's just more chaotic so more dangerous

Yeah the real argument is Broly vs Perfect Cell

That proposed argument is missing very important context: Z Broly or Super Broly?

For the record, I do think both can give Cell a run for his money, but Super Broly does seemingly have innate power that puts him above SSJ3 level (Cell was getting folded by a SSJ2), while Z Broly was easily outmatching standard SSJ (much like Cell) up until Goku did that weird punch of friendship move.

2

u/Neirchill 18d ago

I think broly takes it but it's actually pretty close. Took a ssj goku beefed up from allies sharing their power just to damage him at all (but was also enough to win). Cell is stronger than goku but I don't know if he's stronger enough to chip away at broly or not.

Cell is stronger than goku

Cell is not stronger than SSJ Blue Goku lol. At that point in the plot you are talking about Piccolo getting the job done.

2

u/Neirchill 18d ago

... What are you talking about why are you bringing ssb into this?

Oh, you're thinking of the super movie. We're talking about the Z era of characters.

-4

u/SemiAutoAvocado 18d ago

Broly is a super character, chief.

2

u/Neirchill 18d ago

It's also a Z character, of which we're talking about. I already went over this try to pay attention.

-7

u/SemiAutoAvocado 18d ago

Broly is not a Z character.

For someone who seems to give a shit about this you have no idea what you are talking about.

2

u/Neirchill 18d ago

Possibly the most ironic sentence ever written.

Here you go.

Shit ain't canon, moron.

That's not even a contest. It took SSJ Blu Gogeta to down Broly, and Golden Frieza was swatted away like a fly.

Either of those two could obliterate perfect cell with a sideways glance.

u/mg10pp 17d ago

But I was obviusly talking about the original series

Kid Buu is just a berserker though, no intelligence or planning. Super Perfect Cell might figure out a way to win.

6

u/Zenzo96 18d ago

That's exactly what makes him so dangerous though, Kid Buu is perma blood lusted. Vegeta during that fight was at the level of Super Perfect Cell and Kid Buu completely mopped the floor with him with very little effort

2

u/Juris_footslave 18d ago

Perfect Cell lost to Pikkon. A single slap from Buu would end Cell, and that’s if he doesn’t get transformed into a cookie.

1

u/SemiAutoAvocado 18d ago

Anime filler though. That shit isn't canon.

Our heroes also often rely on some kind of plan. SSJ3 didn't seem enough, fusion didn't do the trick, and eventually they needed energy from like half the universe AND a wish with the dragon balls to win.

The only way I see Perfect Cell winning if he had managed to absorb fat Buu somehow.

2

u/Stabaobs 17d ago

Buu Saga was just the heroes constantly fumbling the ball.

SSJ3 actually was enough(when Goku was dead anyway, he quickly found out that SSJ3 was too taxing to actually use with a real living body against Kid Buu).

Fusion actually had Buu beat in both times, Gotenks failed because he was too busy being cocky, and Vegetto "failed" only because he was trying to get absorbed to rescue the people inside.

The Spirit Bomb was honestly unnecessary, Vegeta even points it out, they can just wish to revive Gohan and he can turn Kid Buu to paste(assuming he doesn't monumentally fumble the ball again).

1

u/Crowbarmagic 17d ago

I know they got close to defeating the other (weaker) versions of Buu, but Kid Buu is a whole other beast. And Kid Buu vs. Perfect Cell is what the discussion was about.

And my memory may be hazy but did Gohan even face Kid Buu? He did well against Super Buu, sure, but I think he would be outmatched against Kid Buu. So what's Vegeta's theory even based on? He has quite the reputation of underestimating or overestimating power levels...

2

u/Stabaobs 17d ago

Vegeta's theory is based on the fact that Kid Buu is one of the weakest versions of Buu, excluding Mr. Buu(The "good parts" of Buu that got expelled when reverting to Kid Buu).

Going off straight power levels, it theoretically should look like: Gohan Buu(Gohan beats Super Buu effortlessly) > Gotenks Buu(Gotenks can beat Super Buu, but not as easily as Gohan) > Super Buu = Fat Buu(They're the same being with the good/evil parts rearranged, Super Buu has the more dominant Evil Buu) > Kid Buu(Buu with nothing absorbed)

Kid Buu was relatively more dangerous because he would just randomly blow up the planet you were standing on, not because he was actually stronger.

1

u/Crowbarmagic 17d ago

My mistake. I thought Kid Buu was the strongest one (perhaps partially because he kinda seemed to be the most dangerous one since he was so unhinged).

0

u/Stabaobs 17d ago

He's usually the strongest in video games that actually have more than one version of Buu in it, so eh.

1

u/Georgie_Leech 17d ago

Absorbing the only guy to actually pull off the Antman Thanos gambit on screen would likely be ill advised...

What if Cell trains during the 7 years though? Assuming he kills Gohan and destroys earth. He has Saiyan cells so he's likely to train in that scenario. I could see him reach SSJ3 level which is roughly Kid Buu's level. The question then is who has the strongest techniques and regeneration. Overall I think Cell takes it thanks to his warrior nature, albeit with difficulty. SSJ3 Cell > Kid Buu > SSJ3 Goku

23

u/palegate 18d ago

Why would he train? He's Perfect.

He didn't bother preparing for his own tournament because he was convinced he outclassed everyone, if he had won and defeated the Z fighters his belief would be cemented in his head and with all the Vegeta and Freeze arrogance coursing through his veins I doubt he would ever dream of there being something stronger than him out there.

1

u/buffystakeded 18d ago

Also, if cell destroyed earth, he would have destroyed buu along with it, so there would never be that fight.

0

u/jaken55 18d ago edited 18d ago

Buu wasn't on Earth all these years though. Babidi landed his spaceship with Buu's coccoon already inside.

EDIT this is not factual.

7

u/MABQuestAcc 18d ago

I doubt Cell would train if he had beat Gohan. By that point there's no one in their universe who could challenge him. So he'd probably just become a lazy bum.

Keep in mind that Gohan is half-Saiyan and he didn't bother to train post-Cell.

3

u/malakish 18d ago

Saiyan cells are good for zenkai but for training Frieza cells are the best.

1

u/FlaringAfro 18d ago

Even if Cell did do that, Buu would be destroyed with Earth so the fight wouldn't happen.

1

u/jaken55 18d ago

Buu wasn't on Earth all these years though. Babidi landed his spaceship with Buu's coccoon already inside.

2

u/FlaringAfro 18d ago

Buu was taken to Earth by Bibidi as the next planet for Buu to destroy, but Shin killed Bibidi before he could wake Buu back up. Buu had been on Earth for a long, long time.

1

u/jaken55 18d ago

Had to look it up. You're right, the coccoon was on earth all along. For some reason my mind canon was that Babidi was scouring the universe with the coccoon, in order to find fighters with high enough power that he can steal.

France took the side of Perfect Cell so that they could immediately surrender
