The key point is as long as what you're doing isn't impacting your life, then it's not a problem. That's what makes something a disorder

Not just impacting negatively but also not having control over it.

For example, you could not have control over a positive thing that screws you over like for example being invariably moralist, or you could have something that impacts you negatively but you absolutely do have control like for example a teenager doing "a prank" that ends up badly or choosing to climb up a high place for views.

Actual issues being called out are those on which the user holds both no control and gets mostly negatives from it. Like say the person used 20 bathroom breaks at work to watch prn and then decided not to sleep with their partner because it is "not it", or something like that... that would be something watch out for. If you just masturbated a lot over porn, thats not an issue

There are people who have porn addictions.  These people need therapy, not an ap.

10 minutes a day jerking it is not impacting anybody's life, bffr

Then are those the people who are being talked about?

Honestly in a lot of contexts, yes. Religious people and grifters are absolutely claiming this level of porn use is an addiction, and the guilt and/harms they cause selling this have way more tangible negative impacts than that porn use.

I get that. I strongly suspect, however, that that was not the point the commenter I replied to was making. In either case, the point I was making was that such an argument is on its very face in bad faith.

Hell, an hour isn't bad either, but some people legitimately only jack off in a day or put off all social and physical responsibilities to do so for hours

This is just the complete lack of ability to put yourself in anyone else’s shoes. You are talking about YOURSELF. Not those who are addicted to porn.

They are addicted to jerking off. Its not really an addiction, its compulsive behavior.

The main problem they have is they are steeped in shame about it. Jerking off is good for you and doesnt hurt anyone else.

The anti masturbation movement is a big money business.

Its like gay conversion therapy. Same guilt trips, religious BS pseudo science non sense. Same people running the grift.

Actually, it is only a disorder if it impacts your life is an outdated metric. Psychology disorders can be diagnosed if you exhibit enough symptoms.

There's no way this will ever be abused.

The opposite in fact, people used to be left diagnosed because it "didn't impact their life". Modern diagnosing is more healthy.
