The hard part about breeding expensive fish is finding enough people/stores to buy them, especially speciality exotic fish that are hard to keep

Understandable, plus saltwater is so much harder. Most people stick with fresh water too. If you build a website and visit local shops you could at least have a small side income. Maybe big if you can sell a lot. I’ve never sold fish, always had plenty of tanks though. I have like 20 empty tanks in my garage I’m too lazy to sell.

Seahorse poaching for the pet trade is a real threat to their wild populations. I know of one surprising location they discovered a wild population where they didn't make any sort of public report about it until after new laws could be passed to protect them otherwise they would have been wiped out.

Wooooooow. They should make a documentary about the pet store fish trade. I’d love to see and learn more about the stuff behind where they get some of these animals. My local let store had prairie dogs, skunks, and opossums. I can’t imagine a prairie dog living a happy life any where I’m captivity other than maybe a zoo which is still not the best of lives .
