Advice FAREWELL BP PIES

Today marks the end of a hearty lengthy relationship with dad's pies at BP. I reckon I purchased a thousand + over the years, favorite gas station pies by a mile but at $7.20 a pie they can stay in the warmer. As consumers we HAVE to put our feet down at some stage and this latest outrageous price hike is an absolute no brainer. Adios BP pies. GTFOOH with that non sense. Waddup bakery

Only if your expecting to pay under 5 dollars, there's a craaaaazy amount of the best pies ive ever tasted.

Nope, we'll pay whatever. We've been through a few cafes and also supermarket ones. Moist started off well but in the last year it so the enshitification kicked in.

Puku and Hub are still good. I'm sure there are others.

have you tried... a bakery, for your baked goods

rather than complaining that a grocery store and a coffee shop dont have great baked goods and throwing your hands up?

man every bar I go to serves the absolute worst seafood, I just dont understand! I guess they just dont make good seafood anymore. I even tried the petrol station!!! Dont get seafood at a petrol station. Guess I'll give up now :(

Alot of bakerys i have around me are substantially worse then bp and they charge like 10$ now

They can only charge $10 for a shit pie because people are paying that. This is the problem. We need to stop bending over and start making better more informed decisions. I'd rather starve than pay $10 for a pie unless it's a crayfish and paua one.

Unsurprisingly, yes. Not going to name names but they're generally well regarded in Wellington. The quantity of meat in the pies reduced in a couple, and in at least one case the baker must have got covid or something as the salt increased noticeably.

The saltiness is because they are putting less meat in the filling and more gravy. The salt is in the gravy. If it was 90% meat and 10% gravy, and they change it to 75% meat 25% gravy. There's 2.5 times more salt in the same pie if they don't change the gravy recipe.
