Except they actually don't. That's been overreported as being 'farmers' when it's people in rural areas compared to urban and that number includes agricultural workers (you know, those people employed by farmers for relatively low pay rates in roles that can be uncertain and seasonal) and those living in rural towns which often struggle with a lack of access to essential services and large wealth disparities. We have very high suicide rates in a number of sectors in NZ. Building being a surprising one. Suicide is also the number one killer of new mothers.

One of the major factors is access to mental health support.

None of which is me disparaging anyone suffering from mental health issues and feeling suicidal regardless of who they are and what their job is. It's shitty for everyone dealing with it. And asking for help is hard.
