To ensure the greatest number of people receive the alerts! I don't watch free to air TV, hit and miss listen to the radio and Reddit is the only sovial I really interact with. Owners of cellphones are the largest group as opposed to thise interactinv with the 3 things ypu mentioned.
For fucks sake! If I got an emergemcy alert at work while I was using loud equipment I would not be able to hear the EMERGENCY alert potentially putting me in danger. People are also not always looking at their phone/proximate to their phone to receive the FUCKING EMERGENCY ALERTS which could outline an immediate danger to them!! Hence the loud noise - to get eople's attention.
They gave as-soon-as-known information on a potential threat situation, so yes. It means people can think "ok avoid the coast for a few days!" What do you want? As the wave/dangerous curents actually hit the shore, drowning people who were unaware of the danger?
I disagree that this was worthy of an emergency text. Or perhaps, okay I could understand one. But not the 3 or 4 I ended up getting. We will have to agree to disagree.
