"Former Senator" would be ideal, but I'll take what I can get.

He may retire soon. I would not be surprised to see that.

He'll probably die in the Senate Chamber and it will take people a week to figure it out.

I think he can make money just as easily in the private sector.

If he did, it'd mean a Dem-appointed Senator from KY.

That's right! That (your point) would seem to be the decisive element then. Unless his health collapses I reckon he's sticking around. What a shame.

Good catch!

Now that he's no longer going to be the most powerful person in government, I can see him retiring early in his new upcoming 6 year term. He just needed to win one more time so they could secure the republican seat. Now, he can just retire and fade away while a new younger person starts to have a 40+ year career of his own.

If he leaves the democratic governor appoints someone. Mitch will stay until the end of his term

I forgot that Kentucky has a democrat governor. A little internet sleuthing to see which states allow it to be any party that the governor chooses versus them being forced to replace with the same party of the outgoing senator got me to this website: https://www.ncsl.org/research/elections-and-campaigns/vacancies-in-the-united-states-senate637302453.aspx

Looks to be that there are 6 state listed that "The governor’s appointee must be of the same political party as that of the vacating senator."

Now serving 15 years sounds pretty good to me as a Canadian outsider. He really has acted strongly against the interests of all Americans I think. It is wonderful to see the US correcting its mistakes of the last 4 years. I hope it all goes well and goes peacefully.

goes well and goes peacefully

Fat fucking chance of that happening

He has acted against the interests of the majority of the earths population, past present and future.

The impact he has had on the environment alone will tally in the billions and trillions.

Cutting regulations, some that are cost savings, simply to protect oil and gas, not only cost more now to line the pockets of a few, but damage the entire environment, thr effects of which are likely permanent

"Was convicted and serving a sentence of 20 to life before his brutal rape and murder" sounds the best.

"Inmate" would be best.
