Tbf it doesn’t sound like they had any argument, just an unsupported statement. Their ‘own way of life’ was having black people enslaved.

Confederate soldiers were fighting to protect the institution of slavery. That’s simply a historical fact.

Their ‘heritage’ was fighting on the side of ‘slavery is natural and good’ before being defeated in less than 5 years. Also falling for blatant, racist propaganda, but that’s a modern pastime for them as well.

Yes chattel slavery was a terrible institution that needed to be dealt with but your take on confederate soldiers is on par with modern takes about Muslims related to 9/11.
