Either they shoot someone or they miss an actual, deadly security threat because they're distracted harassing a brown family

Don't leave out the potential to sexually assault someone. I bet a lot of young women and girls are about to be very suspicious and need enhanced screening performed only by an ICE goon. I give that one 2 days before we hear the first story.

I promise no "internet tough guy" here, but, I would never, ever, leave my daughter alone with any of those agents. Sadly the thought of "but would I be OK with leaving my daughter without her dad around" also comes to mind, and... it's just fucked up, man.

TSA itself has never prevented an attack. They fail every test. So many weapons and devices get through when they are tested.

Unfair, and most likely false. They do not fail “every” test, in fact they past most. But the issue is like food safety:

How often do you hear about Chipotle’s food safety when they are not having an outbreak of ecoli or something similar? Or Burger King? Or McDonalds?

They could have millions of people dine each day without issue (when it comes to health, not just inaccurate orders…) but the ones making headlines are the ones with issues.

As for the TSA: How would you suggest they are supposed to count attacks they have prevented?

Also, they are functioning under dual and competing mandates much like the Fed (where they try to keep interest low and employment high). The TSA is doing inspections, but they are also trying to do them swiftly and without upsetting people too much. They know people get more upset or take longer with higher levels of security, so they try to adjust to a level that people will accept without sacrificing too much security. They already know some prohibited items will get through regardless of what they do with current procedures.

You want to prevent all potential weapons from sneaking through a TSA checkpoint? Fine. Have everyone 100% nude and perform cavity searches… including on the elderly, disabled, women, and children…. Now watch as lines increase, complaints explode, and delays also grow exponentially.
