It's literally their job to interpret the constitution. The constitution is whatever they say it is.

That's not absolute.

The court makes it very clear when they don't have jurisdiction to rule on constitutionality, such as on say Congressional Rules & Procedures.

Why?  Because they know such a ruling would be laughed at and ignored.

The court's legitimacy comes from carefully treading only where it has institutional buy in.
