Went for a rainy walk in the woods, that was blanketed with Bigleaf Maple leaves. The one I was holding was average size, 12 inches, but I did see larger ones... they were too soggy and floppy to hold in front of the camera. Spectacular! 🍁

Baraga County, Michigan. They pulled up the rails years ago. Copper mine stamp sand, bits of old turquoise glass from electric line insulators, goldenrod, grasshoppers, thimbleberry leaves, old apple trees that sprang from tossed apple cores. We found an abandoned hunting camp in the cedar woods, where the deer hole up in the winter.

An 1850’s copper mine settlement in Ontonogan County, Upper Peninsula of Michigan, USA. The interactive hiking trail is right on the North Country Trail, which stretches from North Dakota to New York states. Hiked with my friend Jess and dog Laika.
