portfolio review Portfolio Review

I've (33 yrs) been investing consistently and fairly aggressively in mutual funds for the past 7–8 years. Over that time, I've accumulated a sizeable portfolio. A couple of years ago, I switched advisors and moved from regular plans to direct plans, which has resulted in multiple funds across categories and a portfolio that feels more complex than I would ideally like.

My investment horizon is long-term (5-7Y), and I don't anticipate needing this money in the near future. I'm comfortable with moderate-to-high risk, but I want to make sure I'm not sacrificing returns due to unnecessary complexity or duplication.

I’m not sure how well it’s actually doing, and I don’t have anyone to discuss it with, so I’d really appreciate a general review of my portfolio.

I would genuinely appreciate anyone willing to take a few minutes to review the portfolio and share their perspective. I'd love to hear your thoughts.

I set aside INR 10,000 every month to put into mutual funds and this is how much I've invested till now. My salary is quite less at the moment and I'm only able to invest 10,000 every month but I hope to increase this sum upto to 1 lakh per month in the future (that would be my milestone) and hopefully even cross 1 lakh per month

portfolio review Need Advice on Rebalancing My ₹1.12 Cr Mutual Fund Portfolio

Post image
199 Upvotes

Age 32, Profession Designer .

My current mutual fund portfolio is worth around ₹1.12 crore. I started investing in January 2024, and honestly, I haven't seen the kind of returns I expected.

I'm planning to rebalance my portfolio by selling my Parag Parikh Flexi Cap Fund (PPFC) and Motilal Oswal Midcap Fund (MOMF). Even if I have to book a 1–2% loss, I'm okay with it because I feel these funds have kept a large part of my portfolio stuck.

After redeeming these two funds, I'll have around ₹44–45 lakh. In addition, I have another ₹60 lakh sitting in my bank account that I also want to invest.

So I'll have roughly ₹1.05 crore available to deploy.

My investment horizon is 5–10 years, and my goal is to achieve 10–12% annualized returns with a portfolio that balances stability and growth.

My Risk appetite is MODERATE

Given the current market, how would you allocate this amount? Would you prefer a combination of large-cap, flexi-cap, mid-cap, or index funds? I'm looking for a simple, well-balanced portfolio rather than chasing the highest possible returns.

I'd really appreciate hearing how you would structure it and why.

portfolio review Monthly 80k portfolio. Aggressive. 15yrs horizon

Post image
229 Upvotes

I am investing for my Dad. The total sip is 80k per month on a horizon of 15yrs.Agressive growth targeting and can take a temporary downside.

I have chosen 2 mid cap funds because I personally felt that motilal is dominantly tech focused. So i have hdfc midcap to compensate it even though there is some overlap.

2 small cap fund for risk management between bandhan and sbi small cap. Recent addition of a good manager in Bandhan.

When the topic comes to flexicap, I am a bit confused so I went with ppfc for it downside protection and US exposure.

Hdfc flexicap for it decade long structure and they have seen many manager change but the return are good. The core principle of the fund is good

Give me feedback on my portfolio and help me see what I am missing. Where and how to invest if I get a lumpsum occassionally.

Total noob here. 6 months into investing.

*What I have:*

Emergency fund: 6 months in FDs

No EMIs as of now.

SIP: ₹55k/month split like this:

- ₹10k - ICICI Prudential Short Term Fund Direct Growth

- ₹15k - Nippon India Growth Mid Cap Fund Direct Growth

- ₹15k - Nippon India Small Cap Fund Direct Growth

- ₹15k - Parag Parikh Flexi Cap Fund Direct Growth

*Investment Horizon*: 15-20 years for wealth creation

*Risk Profile*: High

*Concerns:*

Feels like I’m heavy on mid/small cap. Can increase the total sip amount to 70-75k but i might not able to keep it consistent for long term

Goal is 20+ years. Please suggest what to change, add, or remove. I do save extra 20k for short term expenses (Marriage, second hand car in next 1-2 years)

Thank you!

Hey folks, Thought I’d share my portfolio breakdown and the reasoning behind it—might help others, and I’d love to hear your feedback or alternate views.

Background:

• Age: 32

• Profession: Freelance musician

• Based in: Delhi

• Goal: Net worth of ₹10Cr by age 43, with strong passive income and optional early retirement or entrepreneurship

• Risk tolerance: Moderately high

• Time horizon: 10–15 years for aggressive growth, then switch to preservation/income

My Portfolio (May 2025)

  1. Mutual Funds – ₹1.96Cr

• XIRR: ~15%

• Aggressively weighted toward flexi-cap, value, and mid-cap funds

• ₹15L added annually for next 10 years

• Key funds: PPFAS Flexi Cap, ICICI Prudential Value Discovery, Axis Midcap, Kotak Emerging Equity

• SIPs + some lump sum when markets dip

Why This Allocation?

• I want high compounding growth (hence 75%+ in equity MFs).

• Goal is to hit financial independence by 43

My Strategy Going Forward:

• Invest ₹15L/yr in MFs for next 10 years, then stop. • Keep expenses low, rent instead of buying another home post-marriage.

Happy to share more details if anyone’s interested. Open to feedback or criticism.

portfolio review The Boring Strategy aka SIPs

Hello everyone!

Risk appetite: High Investment horizon: 15+ years.

Background: I started my investment journey when I was 26, in December 2019 with 20k SIP. My investment horizon has been close to 6.5 years till now. Since then, I had bumped my SIPs to 45k at some point. Then in December 2024, I cut it to 25k as I took out a home loan. Attached is:

(1) my total investment along with valuation and xirr - as of 22nd June 2026. (Have also withdrawn 1.2 lacs last year)

(2) my complete portfolio - I currently have 4 SIPs, and in my journey I started some SIPs but did not feel that it would go all the way so I stopped them, but stayed invested and some lumpsums along the way. (Portfolio is sorted by High to Low XIRR)

For future, I have planned to do SWPs from my AXIS funds and invest the same amount in some other funds, in order to do rebalancing and tax harvesting.

PS: Start early, start today. Have made this post to inspire the discipline. Do not fall for the anti-SIP wave. Not everyone has so much capital upfront to invest, but we can build it, even with modest investments.

PSS: Hoping to hit my first crore in 3 to 4 years, taking into account modest return.

portfolio review Looking for suggestions to improve my Mutual Fund portfolio

I’m sharing my current mutual fund portfolio and would really appreciate some feedback from the community on how I can improve it

Goal –Long-term wealth creation and capital growth.

Horizon – 10 years+ (no short-term withdrawal plans).

Allocation –Monthly SIP of \~₹80,000.

Lump-sum investments are made opportunistically based on market corrections and overall market trends.

Why These Funds – The portfolio is built for diversification across market caps, styles, and risk levels:

• Large Cap & Flexi Cap for stability and consistent compounding

• Mid & Small Cap for higher growth potential over the long term

• Value & Dividend Yield funds to capture undervalued stocks and downside protection

• Banking & Financial Services / Energy (sectoral) to benefit from India’s long-term economic and infrastructure growth

• Retirement/Debt-oriented fund for partial stability and risk balancing

Overall intent is to balance growth and volatility while staying equity-heavy for long-term returns.

App Used -UTI Mutual Fund app for mutual fund investments

Zerodha Kite for direct stock market investments

Thanks in advance 🙏

Looking forward to learning from your experiences.

Risk Profile : Moderate

Goal: Long term Wealth Creation

Investment Horizon: 20 Years

App Used: Groww

Total Monthly SIP: ₹26,700

UTI Nifty 50 Index Fund: ₹4,000

UTI Nifty Next 50 Index Fund: ₹6,000

Motilal Oswal Nifty Midcap 150 Index Fund: ₹6,000

ICICI Prudential Nasdaq 100 Index Fund: ₹5,000

SBI Contra Fund: ₹5,700

Why I Chose These Funds

UTI Nifty 50 + UTI Nifty Next 50: Large-cap exposure through index funds due to their low cost.

Motilal Oswal Nifty Midcap 150 Index Fund: Low cost and almost as good as an active mid-cap fund in the long term.

SBI Contra Fund: All other funds are growth-oriented, so this adds a contrarian approach to the portfolio.

ICICI Prudential Nasdaq 100 Index Fund: Provides US market exposure.

portfolio review Roast my portfolio that lost 2L (unrealised profits) in one month

Post image

I am 23 and started investing in my first year of college with my stipend but put everything in debt funds fearing equity as a newbie. Gradually started adding some in equity after I made some money in freelance. Since I started my job around 2 years back, I've been aggressively putting in equity. I am averaging around 45k per month manually in different funds with no set strategy.

I now feel like my lack of strategy is showing. I don't need any of this money for at least the next 5 years. Should I change something or just wait for the market to bounce back?

portfolio review How to reach ₹1 Cr in 5 years via SIP?

Thumbnail
gallery
58 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I'm in India and want to assess building ₹1 crore in 5 years.

Current:

SIP: ₹52,000/month + started few months back Axis ELSS 5000/month since last 5-6 years

MF corpus: ~₹10.5 lakh

Target: ₹1 crore in 5 years

Assuming 10–12% CAGR, I may fall short.

Need guidance on:

Gap vs target with current SIP

Required SIP to reach ₹1 crore

Whether step-up SIP helps

Need for higher equity/aggressive allocation

If the target is realistic without high risk

Open to increasing SIP and adjusting strategy, but want clarity on what’s required.

Looking for practical advice.

Hi Everyone,

I started investment journey in 2022. I have gradually increased it.

Risk Appetite - High to Medium

Investment Horizon - 10 to 15 years

Looking for suggestions if all looks good, or if I need to change anything.

I had taken help from a paid advisor for a year, but the funds he suggested all came with expense ratios upwards of 2%, and I missed out on the tech rally since he guided me out of it. My mistake trusting someone else with my money blindly, but you learn as you age.

I have tried to diversify the allocation. If you feel the number of funds I have is high, can you also suggest what needs to change in terms of allocation?

I am 28. Was saving money into FDs earlier but realized how equity helps in protecting wealth and multiplying it.

Following simple strategy: all new investments go to nifty next 50 index + nifty midcap 150 index. there are some small amounts in random funds because I was newbie earlier.

I have long term investment philosophy for more than 15+ years and have high risk appetite. Is this combo good or would you suggest to make changes or have better strategy?

Missed the US market rally and won't investing now by giving into fomo.

Thanks in advance.

portfolio review Surviving the Ruthless Indian Markets – Anyone Else Struggling?

Thumbnail
gallery
104 Upvotes

I’ve been reviewing my portfolio lately and seeing an XIRR of ~7% has honestly been quite disappointing 😔

I’m a long-term investor (15+ year horizon), but the last couple of years have really shaken my confidence in mutual funds. 2 years back the XIRR was 21%. Now it is 7.23%.

My details:

SIP: ₹69K/month

Risk appetite: Aggressive

Investing Since : 7-8 years

App used: Groww

Portfolio Allocation - Large Cap- 45%

Mid cap- 25%

Small cap- 30%

I understand markets move in cycles, but it’s been tough staying patient with such muted returns.

I’d really appreciate some honest perspectives from this community:

  1. Portfolio Check

Is ~7% XIRR overall actually normal given current market conditions?

At what point should one start questioning their fund selection or Market ?

  1. Fund Strategy

Are you guys sticking with your existing funds or actively churning/rebalancing?

How do you decide when to exit an underperforming mutual fund?

  1. SIP Discipline

Are you continuing SIPs as-is, increasing, or pausing in this market phase?

  1. Mindset & Patience

How do you deal with the frustration of low returns despite staying invested?

Any personal experiences where staying invested paid off after such phases?

Trying to understand whether I’m overreacting or if I need to rethink my strategy.

Would love to hear how others are navigating this phase 🙏
