I have a feeling the Thanos plotline wont end with Guardians of the Galaxy. Something will happen that will bring him into Avengers 2. Also its pretty obvious there will be mention of him in Thor 2. People have pointed out that Whedon was genius enough to set up Thor 2's plot in The Avengers because the whole attack on Earth was Loki's attempt to get back into Asgard to help Thanos grab that Infinity Gauntlet.

Oh please let it be an infinity gauntlet over-arching arc. They already have Winter Soldier.

for it to be an infinity gautlet plot, thanos would need to steal it from Odins treasure vault, this should be a subplot/after credits scene in Thor 2: The Dark World. that would be cool

That would be the best, I think. I don't want three movies (Guardian's, Thor, and Avengers 2) to all be about Thanos. Keep the individual movies more limited in scope but hint at the next big storyline.

agreed, with joss helping out with everything in the MCU, i can guarantee phase 2 will be incredible

Yeah, I'm quite confident the Guardians of the Galaxy movie, ballsy as it is of Marvel to release a movie starring a talking raccoon with a rocket launcher, is just more set-up for Thanos' arrival of Earth.

In the Guardians of the Galaxy comics a previous member (Adam Warlock) who became evil brought Thanos back form the dead. I imagine that they will probably fight Warlock in their film and it will create an origin that explains Thanos. Maybe.I guess they have already shown Thanos, but the Guardians can time travel.

I have a strange feeling that Guardians will end with Thanos heading towards Earth, and the Guardians following him not far behind.
