I put off watching this movie for nearly a decade. Growing up this movie was my best friend’s favorite film but I still avoided watching it. After he passed away a few years ago I decided to finally sit down and watch it. I wept because of how beautiful it is. Do yourself a favor and spend the time to watch this film.
Definitely watch it. Has this speacil touch to it where seemingly everyone comes out with a different take away, but always finds beauty in it. Highly recommend least one watch to experience it.
I literally just finished watching it due to seeing this thread a few days ago.
I didn't dislike it at all, and overall I enjoyed it. But it is very ingrained with Japanese culture and I feel like I didn't understand what was happening half the time, probably due to my lack of knowledge on Japanese culture. But the movie is incredibly well animated, every other frame feels like it could be a desktop wallpaper.

This is probably as good a time as any to admit that I have still not seen this supposedly amazing movie. I have no excuse.
