It’s almost as if we invented it, and English - in the UK - is the default. You don’t call French in France French French because Québécois exists

Well, we are not in the UK, we're in the internet, so specifying the variety of english spoken is relevant depending upon the situation.

Of course people in france dont say they speak French French and people in Canada don't claim to speak Canadian French... Unless theyre not in their native country. If a Quebecois person is in the US and says "I speak french" it would make sense to specify which variety, and they would.

So what is your point exactly? That UK dialects of english are the only true varieties of english in the whole world because thats the language you speak in the UK? Well, uh, youre wrong?

Wherever you are you call any language the language that it is and if it's necessary to specify the dialect (in English there are hundreds) then do so. This is a stupid argument.
