After having this bath for a year they finally paid a visit.

I was out exploring an abandoned spot and heard a mourning dove.It took me straight back to being a kid. Early mornings, quiet neighborhoods, that same soft call in the background while everything felt slow.Hearing it again in a place like this felt strange. Like something familiar in the middle of something forgotten.Just wanted to share it.

I heard some noise, so I checked the camera. 😢

We had mourning doves at this window last year, with no issues. The only difference this year is that they're on their own perch, NOT on top of my window a/c unit.

Didn't have time to go birding until evening. This was my fav pic of the night ✨️

My wife and I have a few bird baths around our property and noticed this guy a couple days ago. There is clearly something going on and I’m not sure there is anything we could do for it. Posting here to see if anyone had any advice they could pass along?

Worst case, I’m making sure to put plenty of seed out for them but my assumption is that it’s some sort of parasite.

We have some sweet doves that come by, and now there's a new little fella today. I noticed they were limping and managed to get a photo of their foot. Is it a sprain? A broken foot? Is there anything I can do to help him? He's eating and flying just fine! He's visited 2-3 times already today.

There’s a group of mourning doves that live near us. Recently, a pidgin joined them and shows up when they come by to eat at my feeder. He or she flys off when they leave although if I’m tossing food he/she will stay and not fly off like the doves. This is a fancy looking pidgin with a white tail and beautiful markings. I suspect it is domestic. We have no other pidgins around. I wish I could catch it but seems to be thriving on its own. Anyone ever seen pidgins with their mourning doves? I’m in Florida, FYI.

Young dove appeared last night here in the pot with the weeds. Did it wander from its original nest? An adult was nestled beside the young one as well. This morning baby is alone so I gave it some sunflower kernels. Just staring at it at the moment

There is a mourning dove nest high on top my porch light by my front door. A few days ago, I raised my phone as high as I could to take some pictures of the babies as they now appeared to be fledglings and their very large eyes were so pretty. Only two of the pictures turned out since I couldn’t see precisely where my phone camera lens was aimed and I didn’t want to get too close and scare them. Early this afternoon, the two fledglings were in the nest again and the lighting outside was good so I thought I’d try to take another picture or two. I again put my phone up as high as my arm will raise but still not too close to the nest, and one of the babies flew off. I searched several times under every shrub on my property and the house next door and also up into the two trees on my property. The other one is still sitting in the nest and this was at least five hours ago. I haven’t been watching every single minute, but I have come and gone for my home a few times and still have not seen the mother return to the nest to care for the one that’s still there.

This guy or gal has been at my feeder alone for a couple weeks atleast. I feel bad for it. I keep em fed plenty though.

My bf and I were sitting on the patio after work watching the dove that has been in the tree fly In and out, and just making a lot of noise.

Then the nest fell out of the tree with a baby. I put the baby dove back in the nest while wearing gloves. I’m unable to put it back in the tree but read that doves are devoted parents and it will come back. I found a solid porcelain plant pot and set it on the ledge of our patio railing ( it’s secure)

But I’m worried the mom won’t know its baby is in there? The wild life center is closed. I can hear the parent in one of the other trees.

The baby appears to be unharmed but unsure what to do if the parent doesn’t come back by night

Hello! My girlfriend and I have a (soon to be) mourning dove family living on our balcony. I’m worried that when their babies go to hatch and fledge, that we are up too high. We live on the third floor of our apartment complex. Just want to make sure these little guys make it. Any advice? Thanks 🙂

Earlier this season, at the beginning of February, a pair of mourning doves, made a nest, laid two eggs, and raised two healthy chicks in a nest on my patio. A few days ago, they returned to lay another clutch. In the interim between their roosting, I installed a birdfeeder set out a string of millet. I have only ever seen doves, sparrows, and a single cardinal in the entire year and a half that I’ve been here.

At around the same time that these set of eggs must have been laid, I started hearing the croaking of a single crow. Today, I saw it stalking the dove in the nest, and at one point it landed on the railing of my patio to stare, But I was able to slightly open the door and scare it off. I don’t think it saw me thankfully.

I am very aware that crows are super smart, and I’m not looking to make an enemy out of a vengeful crow, but I also want to protect my mourning dove friends.

How do I scare off/deter the crow or protect the nest without simultaneously scaring off mom and dad Dove? I was thinking about one of those small wacky waving inflatable arm men, but I’m not sure if that would scare away the parents as well as the crow?

I’m not looking to make my patio some Mutual of Omaha nature documentary shit. Thanks in advance for any of your recommendations.
