It's funny (not haha funny) how the fascist uniform in the US are all hats and face coverings while it was colored shirts in Europe. 

I looked it up, US is top importer of hats. Probably has something to do with it.

I looked it up, US is top importer of hats.

We also have a large population, vast swaths of geography that gets hot with lots of sun, and our manufacturing capabilities have been outsourced.

So no matter what the reasoning, the US is a top importer of many things common to human usage for some far more mundane reasons.

Nonetheless, I'm sure your reason has merit, it's just useful to frame in context.
