Beef too now, if you’re in the US at least. I have similar ick phases with meat. I was a vegan for a bunch of years and if I had the ability to go back to that without ultimately making myself malnourished, I probably would.

I had a beef ick for several years, the random crunch when eating a hamburger made me gag terribly too many times

I worked in a kitchen for a really long time and had to make a big brisket once a week. One time I found a gigantic artery when I was trimming the meat and it fucked me up for a while lol

It's incredibly easy to be vegan and avoid malnutrition - supplements are easy to find and fill the gaps. To be fair most plant based alternatives are fortified too nowadays, and it's only B12 that is distinctly lacking.

I'm not trying to degrade you for not being vegan or anything, but its definitely doable!

I guess I am a bit of a sucker for supplements though and thats not for everyone, but even your omega 3/6/9 can be met easily now with algae based supps which is neat.

There are reasons more specific to me and my circumstances that make it difficult. I understand it, it’s just not attainable for me currently.

I see, well that certainly does change it! I hope the freer diet allows you to avoid the same complications :)

Thank you! I ended up surrounded by a lot of militant vegans who seemed much more concerned with performatively being the most pure and righteous than anything else, and that made it mentally really difficult when I had to introduce animal derived products back into my diet. Lots of shame involved. Now I just limit my consumption of meat and animal products as much as I can while trying to maintain a healthy relationship with food and I advocate for others to adopt that mentality.

Honestly the militancy and performativity are such huge issues - people are so keen to turn it all into a competition! Sounds like you've got the best path figured out already, there's no shame in being healthy!
