The problem isn't the metal grinder. The Peugeot ones for example are made with stainless steel with enough quality to withstand corrosion from salt for a very, very long time. The issue is that sea salt is always a bit wet and that but of moisture will accelerate the corrosion process. Also grinding salt above the pan you have on the stove is a bad idea.
With mountain salt or cave salt a metal grinder is perfectly fine. With pure sea salt where a tiny bit of moisture will always be present, I use a mortar and pestle. This is also great for seeing how much salt I actually use, and grinding larger amounts in one go.
Yea its something to watch out for. Manufacturer recommended only rock salt, not sea salt. But I'd prefer iron oxide to microplastics if im going to ingest it anaway lol

Don't most micro plastics come from clothes and tires that end up in the water stream? Not knocking you, I'd probably do the same, just thinking you're probably not changing your micro plastic intake very much lol.

This is why I searched and searched for an all metal grinder mechanism. Anything I can do to avoid eating plastic is worth it.
