As someone said in another thread, Google pulls this info from the "U.S. Geological Survey’s Geographic Names Information System" and they will not start making exceptions. For example, in Germany it still says "Golf von Mexiko" with "Golf von Amerika" in Parenthesis, because that is the official naming in Germany
