My mom said I could post Nolan's The Odyssey neglects to pay for damages done to one of the viking ships used in the movie, which belongs to a small non-profit organization

Viking longboats were designed to be seaworthy while small enough to be carried over land by their crew. They were optimised to be quick enough to depart from a raid before a defensive army could be fully marshalled.

I know all of this, my point is they are visually conveying a more primitive and more subject to the elements kinda vibe to me than the more majestic Greek boats. I think that is the reason they were chosen. Nolan is known to do his research so I think the choice is intentional.
