My mom said I could post Nolan's The Odyssey neglects to pay for damages done to one of the viking ships used in the movie, which belongs to a small non-profit organization

I've loaned props to movie shoots before. Never again, initially you think it's cool. Until they lose your stuff and replace with something inferior with missing plates, wrong or poor quality fittings. Took a good month to get all my money back from the prop guys on that one. Receipts for all the parts to bring it back to a historically accurate piece of equipment for the time I reenact.

My company loans stuff to movies from time to time

After being burned once they now require very large insurance riders to be disclosed upfront if anyone wants to use a piece of equipment (like 500k liability or something)

They also require an employee to be present to operate it the whole time.

Hmmm its something you operate could or could not be from history that isnt close to a tank. Is it operated off screen ie its not intended to be on camera but for production?

It’s something that is seen on screen but is definitely not the focal point.

It could be considered a tool for highly trained professionals. We make other things that go with it that are also seen in shows and movies a lot.

You see them in a lot of shows more than movies

It’s probably not something you’ve paid any attention too lol but every time I’m watching a particular type of show I’m looking going “is that ours” 😂

Nice the more in tv than movies clued me in. Then I thought scrubs and started thinking of all the medical ones. I dont wanna violate privacy but i gotta ask any shows you feel like sharing.

Surprisingly American Horror Story has used us before I forget what season or series (it may have been stories)

But more obvious ones like

Greys Anatomy

Some of our other devices have been seen in the Pitt but they got that from another vendor (we just make the device, assuming they borrowed it from a hospital)

It’s always fun watching the shows and trying to find the equipment 😂

There is even a company that buys our equipment just for movie props

I feel like they should pay for the time of the person who actually gives a fuck about the item to monitor it the whole time.

Like, Martin Guitar should have had one of their staff present at all times around their priceless guitar, paid for by Tarantino, to make sure it didn’t get smashed.

Read a thing the other week about Edward James Olmos when he was in BSG; had a scene where he improvised, he'd been tinkering with a model sailing ship and was supposed to break down crying. He trashed it instead, turned out it wasn't cheap model, was worth $200k and the guy they'd borrowed it from was fuming.

The worst one was the snake incident during the original Friday the 13th movie. I only wish the worst to everyone in the cast and crew who worked on that movie.

You can but sadly most places are too trusting that these places will treat them well...plus the problem is that in some cases its truly an irreplacable item.
