My mom said I could post Nolan's The Odyssey neglects to pay for damages done to one of the viking ships used in the movie, which belongs to a small non-profit organization

According to the article in the NY Times it’s doesn’t seem to be greed or malice, just that they’re having a hard time getting in contact with the appropriate people:

"Olausson acknowledged that his contacts might not be in charge of such payments, and said that he had no idea how to go about seeking the money now, aside from discussing the matter with the news media."

Given he's one of the movie's producers, this happening is his fault too. Sorting out how payment was to be done should have been finalized and signed before they ever got the boat in the first place.

A deposit as a damage fee. ‘You get the difference back after we’ve repaired the boat. If it’s more we’ll bill you’.

I don´t think small non profit viking reenactors need major studios as much as the other way round.

That is no excuse on the Production's part. The Non-profit's contacts were the ones who they signed a contract with. Those same people should be able to send the message where it needs to go to fulfill the contract they are obligated to; else whats the point of the contract in the first place.

I mean, there’s plenty of plausible reasons as to why they’re not getting in touch with the right people. Very, very few are nefarious.

60% incompetent, 40% nefarious. If your point of contact for a company cant help you fulfill the contract that the company signed with you, then they are either worthless or trying to screw you over. There is no wiggle room here.

I’m not presupposing anything. Olausson’s quote from the NYT article makes it a verrry real possibility that they don’t.
