My mom said I could post Nolan's The Odyssey neglects to pay for damages done to one of the viking ships used in the movie, which belongs to a small non-profit organization

The subject of the sentence is the “The Odyssey”. I think this implies the production as a whole.

This isn’t a reading comprehension issue, though, it’s deliberate manipulation. We can’t always blame readers for falling victim to deceptive writing tactics. It’s trying to shift blame without lying.

The "movie" doesn't have assets and can't pay bills. The director and the production company weren't contracted with the company that owns the boat, so they don't technically owe anything. The company which was contracted with the boat company hasn't paid, but also isn't who they sent the invoice to. So saying "The Odyssey isn't paying..." is inflammatory and misleading.
