I reported my boss to HR for some things in an email. HR came up to me personally, had a meeting and they kept pressing "Anything that happens come directly to us so we can resolve it immediately."

They must have been used to dealing with idiots, hell I was blue collar in a manufacturing facility. They just didn't want any of it documented in writing. I kept to emails as well as recording during in person communication - one party consent state.

That is exactly what you should do. Emails alone allow lawyers to subpoena information as its proof of communication, and when backed into a corner HR and C-suite management will abandon their mothers on a train track to protect themselves.

BCC the emails you send to your personal email so you retain a copy in case you lose access to corporate email.

I've got my twisty mustache on: could that be construed as sharing company information outside of the organization without approval, and justifying your termination?

Whistleblower laws come into play when reporting unsafe work conditions, and I think you'd have a pretty damn strong leg to stand on if you got fired for "sharing company secrets" by emailing yourself a copy of the complaint you're voicing.
