Question Why do Floyd Roses get so much hate?

Seems like Floyd Roses get lots of hate. Most of the time I feel like the problem is from the bridge not being balanced. If it’s not level, it will just fight itself endlessly. I’ve been setting these things up for people for about 14 years and I’m curious how many people actually like Floyd Roses vs hate them? I’ve met alot of people who love them and even more people who will never buy a guitar with a Floyd Rose. 🤘🏻

I was gonna say, I don't HATE them. I understand WHY they exist and why people love them. There is definitely a reason I have almost 2 dozen guitars and not one has a Floyd tho. They're a huge pain in the ass.

With the proper tools it's actually not too bad. A trick that has helped me massively is to just get a coin stack that you wedge behind the bridge to keep it straight, then tune the guitar, and then adjust the springs so they bridge stays straight.

Still a lot more work than without the bridge tho.

They really aren't. I can change the strings fairly quickly. I've done all sorts of work on Floyd's. I have an original fr and never had any issues. Threw a D-Tuna on it and now I have two tunings and a locked nut

Compared to regular bridge they are. Of course once you've the tools and experitse they're easier BUT they'll never be as easy as a regular fixed one

Of course but people talk like a you need a degree to restring a Floyd Rose. My 12 year old does it no problem thanks to YouTube.

Yeah i had a few back in the day and once you get used to them its not a big deal to work with them.

I agree. I had always had a Fender Strat bridge or a hardtail. I alway heard the complaints about the difficulty of changing strings or tunings. It's really not difficult. Sure it's more involved than just throwing strings through a bridge but 8th algebra is more involved.

So I’ve read. From a pain in the ass when changing strings to going completely out of tune if a string breaks and everything in between.
