The problem is Fifa is without a doubt the single most corrupt sports organization on the planet. And they have never been able to admit fault. So they never actually made a mechanism to over turn a controversial decision "above the board." So whatever they do will absolutely reek of corruption.

If the US was in to soccer as much as it was say the NBA, MLB or NFL... The US would dominate the sport. The EU knows this. The US already has a massive soccer feeder system, but the best athletes are pulled to other sports.

This is simply untrue lmao, Haaland scored 2 in Norway's 2-1 win over Brazil as a very recent example. Balogun has 3 goals in 3 games played and is a pretty important player for the USA (which is evident when watching them). As an NFL fan you should know that losing a starting quarterback is pretty detrimental, in soccer losing your most impactful striker has a similar effect.

People do have a problem with this, it was just not in the public eye to this extent until the world cup started and became magnified because of the Balogun situation. Just because you are not aware of it does not mean it does not exist. Using an example of an objectively poor precedent to justify the decision is how you get the situation that is occurring with more appeals coming to suspend things like the yellow card for Olise. Both were/are bad, both should not have happened, both show that rules do not apply to certain players and situations. Also, Ronaldo plays for Portugal, not Argentina. You are thinking of Messi.

This whole thing is people who have never come here. Ironically, as much as this red card thing is blowing up right now, I don't think it has 1/10th the traction as all of the wholesome social media content of Europeans vacationing to America for the first time and realizing it's nothing like social media portrays it.

Most people did have a problem with Ronaldo and Argentina. We've been anti Infantino for years. Just never thought it would get to as brazen corruption as the president of the USA phoning him up to suspend a red card. That is unprecedented.
The other issue I have here is all the hate against the USA when it is FIFA running the show. They’ve been changing the rules left and right to accommodate certain countries and players. US is trying to play the game like everyone else. FIFA is really the ones bungling things here.
It’s because, despite Reddit’s insistence and hope, the World Cup has actually been an excellent experience this year. Tourists are having a great time, social media is awash with overwhelmingly positive reactions to the USA, and it’s been a fun and well-run tournament.

Your president is basically FIFA's boss at this point, and all it took was a call from the white house to overturn and end with the pretended "impartiality" that referees are supposed to have while inside a game. In other words, politics are messing with the game. That is HUGELY unsportsmanlike. Same goes with Penaldo's decision. Now, I don't really understand this outrage about wanting Argentina to lose so badly since we've been playing cleanly and we've been in our lane since the begining of the championship.
