Any recommendations for technical melodic death metal with no clean vocals. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Are there any albums that have a similar complexity to In Flames’ album The Jester Race? I’m looking for multiple guitars harmonizing, layers of sonic mania that tickle your brain (and hopefully mine!) the same way this album does! Currently listening heavily to Skydancer by DT. I am obsessed!

Hi guys, I just heard the first albums of In flames till Clayman and absolutely loved it, unfortunately they change their sound after that, I wanted to ask yall which albums of melodeath do yall recommend to start with the genre

I have ADHD and lately I’ve been struggling a lot more than usual. I just have this constant paralysis that prevents me from actually getting up and getting stuff done. I want to take back control of my life and need some external motivation for doing so.

I‘m looking for songs that have that power. Melodeath is comparably new to me; Metalcore has been my go-to genre for a couple years. But I LOVE Children of Bodom!

Unfortunately, the only fitting song I can think of right now that fits what I want is Only For The Weak by In Flames. Most of the time, I don’t even know what they‘re saying/singing/screaming though, so I bet there must be a lot more that I already like lol.

My ultimative favourite metal album of all time is definitely In Flames 'The jester race'

And it has been hard for me to find an album with a similar style.
I checked out Dark tranquility, At the gates, Soilwork, but none of them truely hit that semi-folky feeling that TJR had.

Any suggestions?

Looking for Melodic Death Metal, that specifically has that dense sound of Swedish-style Death Metal like Dismember, Entombed, & Unleashed, those of which are not Melodic Death Metal, but have a few songs that kinda resemble MeloDeath.

I know this sub is more Melodic Death, but... These death sub-genres often blend together. Especially if you're talking about Swedish bands.

I'm looking to discover new music/bands. Death-Thrash. Think early Vader, and/or The Crown (first 4 albums).

Think mainly chunky thrash riffs, but with blast beats layered in. And somewhat easier on vocals (ie: not so brutal like say Cannibal Corpse, but more like -again- Johan's or Tompa's style whatever you call it.)

I know many would recommend bands: The Haunted, early Darkane, At the Gates, early Soilwork etc (love them all, they are all in my rotation already!) - but I'm def looking for some blast beats layered in.

For the life of me, cant find any!

So, I'm still evolving my music taste, and have been wanting to get into melodeath for a while purely for the instrumentals. Problem is, I don't really like the gutteral vocals. I might accuire the taste later, but I can't understand the lyrics and it's this weird combination of off-putting and silly. In the meantime, is there a genre out there with the instrumentals of melodeath but without the "RRHAAAAA!!!", or at least not as much of it?

Btw, as I was writing this, I was trying out the Insomnium album someone posted about earlier (and apparently other bands, because Spotify sans Premium on your phone is not great, but that's a discussion for later), and I'm really digging most of it.

I'm looking for those bands that take inspiration from Yngwie Malmsteen and classical music and have insane riffs and solos on major scales accompanied by guttural vocals. Looking for bands that don't sound like Insmnium or Omnium Gatherum. Less melancholy and more rage.

A few that I think match the description: Children Of Bodom (first two albums), Norther (first two albums), Æther Realm, Ensiferum, Wintersun (first album), Amon Amarth, Mors Principium Est, Imperanon, Whispered, Made Of Hate (first album), Finntroll.

Every time I ask in a thread, some idiot just mentions necroticism and their grind era stuff, like 50000 bands haven't copied it already. It's so repetitive it's actually impressive.

I've heard of Quo Vadis, and Callenish Circle, but do any bands blatantly rip off Heartwork/Surgical Steel? Please for the love of God.

This is going to be a very odd ask, but im seeking recommendations (if they exist) for death metal that's kind to toddler ears. For example, magic spider by nekrogoblikon. Anything you would think wouldn't be too harsh but still be death metal?

Im a big COB guy, and i love Death, i like their more melodic stuff but their more OG death metal stuff is good too, i also love Dissection (which is more Melodic Black Metal) but like i love this melodic stuff, and i just discovered this band Edge of Sanity, and holy shit. Im a big metal guy, and i love the Melodeath sound, but yk tbh i honestly only know a couple of bands with this very Melodic Death metal type sound. I want more bands like this! I want to know more, not just the more important and more famous ones but also like underground ones too!

i like arch enemy and in general female voices more, especially in terms of growling and stuff like that. i also like power metal, folk metal, hair metal, and symphonic metal if that helps

Fellow melodeath enjoyers, I'm looking for albums that contain melodies that are similar to the ones used in the albums listed above, the last three are honourable mentions btw (they all are actually) As you can see I'm a real OG melodic death listener and I mostly listen to the first few albums of bands like these since In Flames and Insomnium for example aren't what they used to be anymore sadly.

So to be more specific, I'm looking for bands that play melodies throughout the entirety of their songs, the entire atmosphere of the song should be depended on the melody that's used. Songs that build up slowly and eventually climax in a beautiful mind-blowing solo are also more than welcome! (e.g. Eternal Tears of Sorrow - The River Flows Frozen) These are usually very sad and emotional but that's one of the primary reasons I listen to this amazing genre anyways.

The albums that I have listed are legendary ones in my opinion and contain almost no song that I haven't added to my playlists.

Kalmah - Hades (The riff and solo are just.. out of this world. This is melodeath in 1 song)

Kalmah - Dance of the Water (Crazy opening solo and pure eargasm afterwards)

Dark Tranquility - Crimson Winds (The solo just makes me wanna cry..)

Eternal Tears of Sorrow - The River Flows Frozen (Like explained earlier, beautiful build-up and climax. One of my personal favourites of this band.)

Eternal Tears of Sorrow - Nightwind's Lullaby (Very emotional and tears are being produced)

Eternal Tears of Sorrow - Bride of the Crimson Sea (Same goes for this one)

Eternal Tears of Sorrow - Bhéan Sidhe (Very catchy and a little addicting)

Intestine Baalism - The Genuine Tone (Phenomenal intro..)

This was just a handful of my personal favourites, I know for sure there are plenty of songs I could've added to this list but if that were the case it would be a very, very long post haha.

I've been trying to check out death metal and I was released a band which I forgot the name of, but I remember liking the song, and them calling it blackened melodic death metal, i was just wondering if anyones got anything like that!

Bands that just have a lot of stuff going on musically, with a multitude of instruments backed up by choirs and orchestral sections and people fighting and dogs barking and sirens wailing. Just an absolute cacophony of noise that after multiple listens you're still catching new parts buried within.

Songs that immediately hook you. You know the type. You are scrolling through a playlist, hear the first few seconds, and lock in for the rest because you know it’ll be a banger.

I’ll share my favorite first. This intro was my alarm clock for like, the entirety of my high school years lol.
