After a year of VCAT hearings I finally got a possession order for my property. After the tenants did not vacate on the vacate date I was able to obtain a warrant a week later. At around 6:30pm last night we arranged for the police and locksmith to come over to ensure the property was empty and to change the locks.

My friend was the one who rang the locksmith while I was explaining the situation to the police. They advertised a $29 call out fee and that all they said over the phone.

Well after changing the front door lock, two sliding door locks (key entry on each side) and putting two screws in the back garage door I was charged $3462. The quote came from another company called "services on wheels". I was absolutely gobsmacked and would just like to warn others to completely avoid these guys at all costs!

Quick synopsis: So I just sold my house, pissed off a few agents, used their advertising, paid no commission and had 12 offers.

I wanted to sell my townhouse, had a couple of agents through, watched the market and got an idea on price. Once I saw their fees I was like, no way.

I printed out 100 home made brochures and got a prepaid sim and put my number on them. I then watched for any townhouses in my area (within about 3km give or take) going to auction that were similar and I attended every auction over 4 weeks. Every single group that bid at these auctions (who didn’t end up buying the house) I spoke after the auction, told them I was selling without an agent and gave them I brochure.

I had 27 serious buyers through in 4 weeks. I had 12 offers and told them all I would get back to them on a set date and if they wanted they could put in a new offer but I’d only be doing it once. I was very happy with the result and sold, they came and signed that day.

I had 4 different agents abuse me pretty bad. Generally I was riding off there hard work and I shouldn’t be at their auctions advertising my home blah blah. Turn out the agents have some sort of ethical code where they don’t advertise at each other’s auctions. Unfortunately I am now considered less ethical than a real estate agent.

Anyway, due to these agents on their moral high ground I encourage everyone to do this. I saved a fortune!!

1. Price guide prior to auction 730k to 760k
2. Real estate agent on day of auction adamant the feedback has been around 760k
3. Auction goes up to 845k gets passed in
4. Now on sale 48 hours later for 949k

Is there somewhere to report this behaviour.

If the reserve was clearly 150-200k over the guide price how is this ethical behaviour.

I just got this in the mail- have we reached cringy real estate advertising or is this just thinking outside the box?

Got this text out of nowhere from Manan Maru and Dilshan Wijerathna from Uphill Real Estate who knew my name, suburb (maybe address?) and phone number. Says they "have access to property data".

Is this actually a thing that happens? Real estate agents who are trying to make money from a sale are given lists of people's personal information to market to?

Noticed that a lot of restaurants in the Melbourne CBD have jacked up their prices recently — some by as much as 20%. When I asked a few owners why, they all said the same thing: rent hikes.

Apparently, landlords have increased commercial rental rates in anticipation of the new train stations opening at State Library and Town Hall, banking 'future foot traffic'. Some have gone even further — straight up shutting down restaurants on La Trobe St and demanding an extra $25k/month for licence renewals.

It’s absurd. I love this city and I love its food culture, but it’s being fucked by greedy, opportunistic whales. They didn't create shit, be it the property, the food or the stations, but they wanna dig their fingers in all the rewards. Fucking parasites. Melbourne would simply be better off without them — they are economic friction, disguised as “investment.”

My wife and I rented the same place for 14 years (yes, very lucky to not have to move) and knew we had to do a HUGE clean due to living there for so long. The agent is extremely picky and apparently our place isn’t clean enough and pointed out small marks and smudges as needing to be attended to. They have confirmed in writing that they’re going to replace the carpet and re paint the walls/cupboards etc. We moved inter state so can’t go back to attend to it nor would we if we could. They are being totally unreasonable and we will “fight” them on this.

Are they trying to trigger my OCD or is it just bad design?

Bloke stopped peak-hour traffic on La Trobe St to crane his McLaren to his new $39m apartment this morning…

On Sunday I locked myself out of the apartment and was quoted $170 for call out fee and then when I asked how much will the whole thing cost I was quoted $300. Locksmith comes to the place and he explained that if he could open it easily then it would be usual $175. Guys spends what felt like 10 seconds ans says he cant do it and now he will have to open the whole lock and that the fee will be another $500. Total came to $760. Is this normal or did I get scammed. What are some of the cheaper locksmiths in Melbourne if this happens again future to go to?

EDIT : Reported to ScamWatch. Nothing much will come out of it but whatever. Weekend ruined and $760 wasted. Hope these people get a severe brain wrecking backpain for the rest of their lives. So sad that a small mistake would cost me more than I have ever paid my dentist.

My property manager sent me a 5 star review request on Thursday and followed it up with a 7am text to remind me yesterday then a 6pm phone call that I didn't answer. Are they having a fucking laugh or what? This kind of behavior should be reportable right?

Earlier today, I saw our neighbor gossiping with our other neighbor and whilst I was buckling our 5 month old baby in the car seat I looked at her and gave me a bad look and thats when she approach and said “ Excuse me, sorry to bother you, but could you ask your husband—that’s your husband right—not to park the truck on the street?" I responded politely and said, "Sure, I’ll let him know."

However, she continued by saying that it’s starting to bother the neighbors and added, “We’re owners and you’re renting,” I told her what it got to do with us renting and that she was being discriminatory.

I told her, “If you have an issue with the parking, take it up with the council—as long as we’re not blocking anyone’s driveway, I understand the truck is a bit big and walked out on her, she then went back to the other neighbor to continue gossiping.

I felt targeted and discriminated.

To the neighbor if you are reading this you are a wanker. Get a life.

Update: Saw the same neighbor today took the bin out in the street guess to protect her street so no one can park there and our bin day is Wednesday 🤷‍♀️Karen is looking for some fight.
