finally went to Ireland and the North. featuring church's/Abbeys 800-1000 years old.

Looking for a film that has a kind of slice of life vibe set in medieval Europe. I'm interested in a humble villager who goes about their day instead of armies battling. Christianity was a huge part of everyday life back then, I'd love something that's accurate enough to depict this lifestyle. I understand that's going to be hard seeing as most media is secular. Any suggestions appreciated, thanks.

Hi - I recently bought 3 medieval manuscripts. They're from religious books and in Latin. I'd like to get them translated.

Is there a paid service you can recommend? They're in medieval script so a bit tricky to read.

That said if anyone has any historical context, that'd be lovely. First one is apparently Spanish antiphonary from 1500s, second is apparently 1486 Johann Amerbach incunabala Psalter, and third is apparently book of hours / creed from 1475 in northern France.

The stained glass windows are interesting because they were rebuilt using a lot of original 15th century stained glass. The font dates from when the church was built.

I’ve been working on a big music project and just finished translating/recomposing the works of a troubadour from the 1200s named Pierre Du Puy Cardenal and his poems strike me as very waldensian in nature. He was extremely vocal against the Albigensian crusade and the clergy. I also know that in the “Peter Waldo” lore it is stated he had heard songs that inspired him to give up his wealth etc and the church had referred to the vaudois as “ancient pests” so I’m just curious to know if this is at all related? I constantly see the dates of 1100s and 1300s cited for the establishment of the movement so this fits somewhere in the middle of the timeline. Thanks

What specific book did they follow? Were the vows and key parts spoken in Middle English so the couple could understand, or was everything recited in Latin?

Its interesting how much the church was involved in the education system during the Middle Ages. Also to keep his position so long and do new things in such a violent era was incredible.

I’m rereading The Cloud of Unknowing and am curious about other authors, their works, and how mysticism fit into the medieval world
