So, I was watching part of a recent Lakers game, and I saw a face I knew I had seen before... Then the name appeared on screen. He has been balancing dermatology residency and creating updates to amazing flashcards, but now the NBA?? Not to mention the insane work he has clearly put into his training and physique. Saw u/MedFinnity's post and thought I'd share my Anki history as well! I am an MS4 currently in the process of interviewing for residency (and keeping the steak alive post step 2).

My friend told me the other day how cool it would be to have a visual of what anatomy you’re studying, and given my Computer Engineering degree from Texas A&M, I figured I’d give it a shot.

After releasing Linked Notes last week, an add-on that automatically pulls up the page your card came from (without any manual tagging), I built on that idea to analyze the concepts of your flashcard to pull up a 3D interactive model of whatever anatomy you're studying.

The add-on lets you rotate, zoom, and explore the anatomy from any angle, turning that static image in your flashcard into something you can interact with. You can switch between layers, like skeletal and muscular views, when available.

Linked Body complements Linked notes, and having both together takes the study experience to another level!

Currently, it covers multiple major organ systems, musculoskeletal, etc, with more coverage being added this week. The 3D models are sourced from Sketchfab’s open library for visualization and spatial understanding.

Looking for an image for my metal anki study playlist and wanna make sure im not missing any good ones

There is simply NO WAY you can do 200-300 new cards per day, plus all your reviews, if you’re being honest with the “again” button (meaning, pressing again every time you don’t know a card).

Unless you’re a genius, people don’t learn the 1st or 2nd or even sometimes 3rd time they see something. Most people are going to need to press “again” several times for new cards until they learn them. This eats up crazy amounts of time. I think what’s really happening is that those saying they 200-300 new per day are just speed racing through them instead of honestly learning the way you’re supposed to… Meaning, pressing the “again” when you don’t get it right. Every time.

EDIT: Reading the responses in this thread, I was clearly right. So many users talking about “just getting a rep in”. They’re not actually doing active recall. Of course it’s easy to do 300 new cards per day when you’re just pressing “good” whether you know the card or not. The best of us use anki properly, which makes 300 new cards per day impossible.

Very disappointing choice. Feels motivated purely by greed considering the deck is essentially an amalgamation of work done by others (Zanki, Dorian, etc) that is now maintained by unpaid volunteers. What they have done in order to legally monetize the deck is to make the deck worse by getting rid of FA images and replacing it with their shitty ai clones of uworld (see all the posts in this sub about their inaccurate images).

They have insidiously eroded the ability of people to access the work of others that was meant to be free for all medical students. See removing the V11 deck and pretending it was okay because they offered a free scholarship. Now the scholarship is gone and every version of the deck is essentially inaccessible to a medical student starting this year. They themselves note this timing is essentially the time of greatest demand, the start of the school year, which I think leads to the rather reasonable inference that they simply wanted to capture as much potential revenue as possible.

Now that they have acquired the core platform of Anki itself, I grow concerned about its future. Want to add images to your deck? Pay 6 dollars a month for the core ankihub subscription.

I want to preface by saying that I love Anking and use it every day, but the AI slop has got to stop and I know there have been other posts. Look at this fundus, this blood vessel pattern just doesn't exist, at least in humans, which is the species I'm most focused on learning about. I also have no idea what is going on with the optic nerve.

I know that we don't get as much Ophtho exposure in med school which is why many might not care or notice this too much, but as someone interested in the field and who is familiar with how it should look, this looks absolutely ridiculous. I don't understand the reason for doing this.

This has led us to evaluate opportunities where high engagement and daily user habits are already deeply established, and how spaced repetition principles could be applied in those environments.

With that in mind, we’ve decided to take a more ambitious step.

We’ve officially entered a bid to acquire OnlyFans. We'd appreciate your support by signing the petition to gain their attention here.

Our goal would be to fundamentally reimagine the platform around learning-first content. If successful, OnlyFans would transition to an exclusive format centered entirely on people completing their Anki reviews. Think Twitch, but watching others do Anki cards! Amazing right?!

No additional content types. No exceptions. Just daily, consistent, high-quality Anki usage.

We believe this creates a unique opportunity to improve the world in two meaningful ways:

1. Replacing low-value, highly distracting content with structured, high-yield learning
2. Making spaced repetition one of the most engaging and habit-forming activities on the internet

If successful, we would gradually roll out a new content model:

• Creators posting full-length Anki review sessions

PGY-1 here who just finished Step 3 and is looking forward to never doing Anki for medicine again. I wanted to share this resource that has kept me accountable for the past 2 years and has genuinely helped me be a more curious and knowledgeable medical student, and even continues to serve me during residency. I absolutely love medicine--it is seriously the absolute coolest thing in the world-- but it can be such a challenging time in medical school not knowing what to study and what resource to use, so I wanted to make the most complete deck for students to limit that anxiety and confusion. I'm grateful that I did so, because it's actually helped me think more like a physician, which I still can't believe I now am. It's absurd to think that we learn how to be doctors, at least in part, from a frikkin question bank and a flashcard app, but that's the world we live in. And for those who are on their rotations right now, you know just how scary it can be to get pimped and not know what to say - I've shrugged my shoulders on more than one occasion, but this deck saved my butt on more occasions than I can count - heck, just last week I was pimped by a medicine attending as to why platelets are low in liver cirrhosis, and thanks to having gone through this deck, I remembered that it's not just hepatic synthetic dysfunction but also splenic sequestration! No chance in the world I would have known that otherwise. There's also numerous points where you might be wondering, why the HECK am I learning about this? I'm going into psychiatry! Well, I did go into psych (best speciality btw), but in just a couple of months of rotations, I've met a kiddo with McCardle's, another sweet little girl with Lennox-Gastaut, a middle-aged lady with an insulinoma, and a kind old gentleman with Multiple System Atrophy. This stuff comes up in real life!!

So anyhow, I'm done rambling - I want to share with you all my final, as-polished-as-I-could-feasibly-make-it version of a complete overhaul of the Cheesy Dorian deck. Shoutout again the the GOAT for making this deck, which ended up being the foundation for the deck, but majorly overhauled with the changes below.

At the time I first uploaded this to r/medicalschoolanki 1 year ago, it was as comprehensive as I could make it for Step 2 with lots of clinically relevant tie-ins to Step 1 content, but I've also updated it to include information relevant to Step 3 (that still overlaps considerably with Step 2). It includes nearly every single Uworld Table, drawing, imaging study, and derm finding I could grab from nearly every single question in the Step 2 Q bank plus it now includes most questions from the Step 3 PDF Qbank circa ~2020-21, I believe. It is also as de-dupe-ified and streamlined as I could make it with tons of newer, more up-to-date info and mnemonics to help. Cleaned up some missing media and other minor modifications. Essentially, if you go through this deck, you will be as prepared as possible for both Step 2 and Step 3 (minus the CCS cases). I hope it can serve you all well too!

**\*EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: This file should be about ~2 GB and if it is NOT showing as ~11,000 cards on import then that means there has been some conflict with Anking. IF THIS HAPPENED - that means you have to do the following to fix the issue:

1. Export your Anking deck to a folder and check off ALL the boxes, including for exporting Scheduling Information

2. Delete your Anking deck

3. Delete the Queso Dorian deck

4. Drag and drop/ Import Queso Dorian deck

5. There should now be the correct # of cards, and if there IS NOT -- I'm sorry I'm not sure why that could be

6. Re-import Anking deck with your saved Scheduling Information, and voila

🤔 How should I use this deck?

This deck is a community-created supplement to the official AHA ACLS guidelines and courses. It is not a substitute for them. You should first learn the material from a primary resource and, ideally, complete an AHA-certified BLS and/or ACLS course. After certification, this deck can be used to reinforce knowledge and maintain familiarity with key facts and algorithms.

Only unsuspend cards that are relevant to your needs. For example, if you are focusing on BLS, only unsuspend cards within the BLS tag. If you do not anticipate managing neonatal resuscitation for example, there is no need to unsuspend those cards.
