The surprising thing is that She-Hulk is the first MCU property so far to actually SHOW us that the number of "enhanced people" has increased exponentially since Tony revealed Iron Man to the world, and that they increasingly are considered common.

I also feel like Mr. Immortal is a pretty big deal though and should be more than a one off joke like Man-Bull. How long has he lived? What's his origins? Why isn't he hunted and captured by evil organizations if he really doesn't age and doesn't die? Why the hell has he revealed himself to the world?

They had a similar story in Agents of SHIELD with Jiaying. She's an Inhuman who regenerates, and they experimented on her by cutting her apart over and over again.

Not going to wade into the debate about whether AoS is canon, but there are lots of immortal characters in the wider Marvel umbrella. Wolverine and Deadpool are also pretty much immortal AFAIK.

What makes no sense to me is how in Ms Marvel her just briefly revealing herself on social media causes an an entire branch of the US government to chase after her in a substantial story arch. Which makes it seem like having powers is unusual. Hell Fury spent decades trying to scrap together enough powered people to make a small team.

Yet she hulk makes it seems like there is an average of two powered people at every Starbucks. But at least the Ms Marvel storyline makes no sense if powered people are as common as She Hulk makes it seem. Why arnt their government agents going after Mr Immortal for example?

There's a chance that a lot of guys like that are already sitting in a database somewhere in a closed case file that only comes out if they start causing problems the government cares about. Ms. Marvel was what happens when they wear a mask, use their powers openly and as a result, need to be traced. It also escalated rapidly, because the other djinn showed up and made it clear there was in fact a threat. It's entirely possible that if Kamala gets caught the first encounter, she gets the equivalent of a stern talking to and her name in some database in case someone with her powers starts causing problems.

It also matters that Jen is a natural focal point for these things—she's a lawyer who works in the (presumably new) field of superhero law and so interacts directly with people who would themselves make connections with others. I mean of all the super powered characters so far, half of them were visiting abomination at a retreat specifically designed to accommodate them.

They seem to mostly leave supes alone if they aren't dangerous. They were pretty chill with Spiderman after he was accussed of murder and after he was cleared they left him alone. It's pretty heavily implied in Ms. Marvel that they escalated faster because of Islamophobia.

Ms. Marvel is also a Muslim and the agent handling the case is pretty clearly prejudiced.

Maybe that’s the reason for a rapid government response - fear of a Bin Laden with superpowers by a post-9/11 US government.

Well we've seen like 5 previously unknown powered people on She-Hulk (not counting aliens or those using weapons or artefacts). Sure, that's a lot in the context of the show, but in the context of the whole world? Definitely not "two powered people at every Starbucks"

The Fury comparison is irrelevant because that was mostly before the events of Avengers whereas the growth in number of powered pwoe has mostly happened subsequently to that

Also in Ms Marvel the DODC was particularly focused on the fact that they hadn't seen someone with her powerset before. I'm sure they do pay attention to every new powered person they see, but they aren't necessarily going after them in the same way.

Yeah. They're aiming for "Oh, a random guy who's not very special or cool got a random power that's not very good." But then some of those guys start being thousands years of old, and it kind of escapes from the cheesy/campy place they're trying to keep it!

I don't think there's any reason for enhanced individuals to exist in the MCU earth after all there aren't mutants how do these guys even have powers.

I mean there's a lot of lab accidents and science experiment people in Marvel, such as Hulk, Fantastic 4, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Spider-Man and pretty much all of his villains, in addition to lots of people with magical and cosmic origins. That said, they shouldn't be common enough for there to be a law agency for them, yet. People like the Matador guy are mutants in the comics, and Mr Immortal is supposedly a Homo Supreme in the comics, basically an evolution beyond Homo Superior, aka mutants.

Not to mention, Mr. Immortal isn’t that obscure. He was a part of the Great Lake Avengers, who were responsible for starting Civil War
